Default Needles replaced by plane bearing Stihl 170

I lent my little toy & it came back stuffed. The clutch bearing had disintegrated so I decided to make a plane bush bearing for it instead of a replacement part. I had some stock rod, possibly an acetate material that was a few thous smaller than required & bored it out to 6 mm on my lathe then distorted the shape in the 3 jaw chuck in order to get an interference fit. Then finished it off to the reqd 10mm & then pushed in to clutch housing with superglue. Lubricated with sump oil in the hope that graphites in the oil will form a boundary lubricant. Has worked well so far & no slop. The bearing only has to work at idle or stall so could be successful. I might try it on my bigger CSs if they give trouble.

Sounds like alot of work for a sub standard saw series. Sounds like the factory bearing was not well maintained with grease.

Besides alot of work,it could also cut a groove in the end of the crank.
