Default Muffler mod for the 372

Will say hi as this is my first post

Also being my first 372, looking for input on what the best way to mod the muffler. Seen alot of variations but is there a tried and true way for this saw?

The WoJo mufflers look nice, might end up with one of those but wanted some input first.

Thanks.

GDay,

Welcome to the forum. There is a top bunch of blokes here.

I went for a wojo muffler on a husky 575. On the plus side the saw doesn't bog down like it use to but on the negative its definitly louder. I did tune it with a tacho after adding the muffler and definitly wont be going back to a stock muffler. I would suggest that you think about the types of cuts you will be doing so you can get the best exhaust direction as Scott (wojo) will point it anyway you ask.

Just opening up the stock outlet will help a lot, cheap, and all you need is a dremel with a carbide bit.

Make sure you take the muffler off before you grind with that Dremel, you don't want to get any filings ending up into the cylinder.
Years back when logging for a living I made a simple muffler mod by punching a half dozen holes into the front of the muffler with my scrench. But now a days I'm running my own company and the fear of getting sued for starting a fire on a customers property, makes me keep those spark arrestor screens in my saws.

Willard.

Good point. I didnt think about posting that as well. Muffler off saw, and blow out the muffler well afterwards! Also, I reinstall the screen. I dont mod my own mufflers without using a screen. I dont cut on forestry land, I just want to keep crap out of my muffler, like foreign debris, wasps, mud daubers, etc.
