Hello ! I have searched but really haven't seen the answer, people say, it wakes up the saw, people say huge differnce, people say its a differnt saw. What's the opinion overall, is it really worth the purchase to buy the 2 port muff for my 460 mag, I can get it here for about $50. I really like the comments about cooler running engine, Is this true. My saw is brand spanking new ! Would really like to get the most ot of it, but don't want a finiky saw either ! Or should i just dremel out the stock port on the muffler ! I race RC gasoline boats so tuning is not a issue, just don't want to go hacking up my new saw if there is no differnce ! Thanks for opinions !!!! |

You can do either. My 084 didnt have a DP option so I took a husky deflector and aimed it the same way as the 460 660 DP covers on a 084 cover without heat shield. Stihl has those 2 covers 460 660 down pat and cant be beat. |

I tested stock 660 DP cover and one with a pipe sideways (wrong way IMHO) and the DP out performed in my testing. The on my 084 I tested one with pipe in it sideways (wrong way IMHO) again, burned my hand when making flush cuts. To this one using a husky deflector for $8-$15 total investment. The husky deflector one out performed the pipe again. This is what I call my Caveman muffler mod in 30 mins. |

yes outside cover and made hole in cover to fit under husky deflector. If you know how to weld on thin metal you can make your own deflector and weld on.

I bought an almost new 460 a few years back and installed a dual port cover. It is louder but not SUPER loud. I did bump up the carb jet to a .70 size and adjust the carb. I don't notice the power increase until I have the bar buried in big oak. It does seem to run cleaner and crisper. I love it! I did put in the HO oil pump parts because the STD wouldn't keep up in dry oak.
