Default ms201t pics and review

I got this saw in the mail today. The saw weighs the same as an 020t. Once the exhaust screen is out (just like on all the 200t's) it runs the same as the 020t. The saw is balanced well. It has a Zama 289 chinese carb on it with a limited high jet. It pulls the 16" bar the same as the 020t (I ran the same bar and chain on both for a comparison). The plastic around the exhaust is a little better and the plastic below the clutch has a better clip to keep it from popping out. I do not see a reason to run out and buy an old ms 200t, I am going to buy a new ms 201t once it comes out. Not sure why this one is out though.

Looks like someone mashed a 192T and 200T together and beat it with the ugly stick for a few hours. I'd rather man handle my 200T than this strange looking thing while up a tree.

On to a more serious note. This version was released to comply with the new EPA rules I think. There is another thread here which was showing the 201T was like 1.3 pounds heavier with only the slightest increase in power. If you are saying it runs better without the exhaust screen then it should be cutting harder than the 200T.

Thanks for the review mate.

You couldnt see or feel any weight or power difference to the 020 then? Did it both start and run as good as the 020? Is the economy better? How does it look like to work on?

Cheers

Any chance of popping a 200T and a 201T fuelled and oiled onto a set of accurate scales ..... no bar or chain on the saw.

Stihl called this morning and said that the saw is stolen and they are sending a call tag for it. Ups should be picking it up today. They also said that there is one other saw missing out of Baltimore.

Just as I said on your other thread ish. "are you sure its not stolen?"

Probably a test model on top of that.

It was a test model. It took them four days after I called them before they got back to me with what was going on.

I googled up MS201T last week after posting on the other thread about the stolen issue . The very 1st search on top of page one was that thread.

I guess when "stolen" is mentioned over the net red flags automatically pop up.

Willard.
