I have got a Jonsered 90 chainsaw and want to fit a iida 850 module to remove the points. Could anyone tell me how to wire it up and would anyone have a diagram that they could send me. Thanks

To remove the points is straight forward, and without replacing the magneto coil. What I always have done in the past, was to remove the flywheel, and remove the points, and the condenser. I mounted an ignition module, something like a computer chip, and installed it under the flywheel. I used one of the mounting holes for the points, and mounted the ignition module, with the ground wire, and tightened it down. I then ran the wire from the ignition module, to the magneto coil, and hooked the wire to where the points were hooked up to it. I then put the flywheel back on, adjusted the air gap, between the magnets of the flywheel, put the chain saw back together again, and everything was as good as new. I wouldn't try to put something else in place of the magneto coil, you will be into a lot more work, trying to find the right timing, of the chain saw, and it may not work for you. This would be the easiest, and less work to do. Bruce.

Thanks Bruce, This one actually has the magneto on the inside of the flywheel. What brand of module have you been using? Was it an iida or an atom module?

| Cutterschoice.com To give you an idea of what this thing looks like, look at part number 98220, and it will give you a full description, of what it looks like, and how it is used. Let me know if it works.. Bruce.
