Crikeys! jim1nz vs wyk ![]() Jim, going back to Mattheck's axiom of uniform stress wouldn't it be possible that the weight of the canopy is used to balance force onto the root plate. The rapid removal of that counterweight would instantly place more force on the root plate where it was not before. Roots in tension (opposite the lean) would now have a lot more work to do as the branches that helped "counterbalance" the remaining canopy are gone. ???? One way of illustrating this is how cranes use counterweights.

Well on it. IF I could have only 1 saw it would be a Dolmar 7900 or Makita 7901 same same . Light and power of a bigger saw . Best bang for the buck.

Two saw= McCulloch SP 125 Homelite 750 Three saw= add Poulan 8500 or 655BP I don't have to add limb saws, as there are always several tophandle "groupies" hanging around my shop for free. |
