Default i am so confused

i bought a partner 5000 plus that didn't run. i didn't try and start it yet because i wanted to see the condition the p&c was in.i checked the compression first and it read 175psi. i thought great. but wanted to pull the cylinder to make sure it was the good [windowed piston] 5000. so after pulling the cylinder the piston was scored the cylinder is good but i don't understand how the compression is so good. i don't know if i should leave it alone or what. it was the windowed piston by the way the piston isn't bad enough that the ring is stuck but still scored. intake and exhaust side. any one have any thoughts?

One word will be worth a 1000 for me = PICTURES

Brand new OEM 5000 plus stuff I have picked up piece by piece.

Have even more used.

Pistons do bring a premium.

Re-try posting those pics again. Did something wrong and it was mini size.

I also got used 500 44mm, 5000 44mm, 590 45mm, 325 46mm, etc.

One is new 5000 plus

other is showing 5000 plus compared to the early 5000 open port and 500.

easy.....the piston could be as jagged as a saw blade as long as the cylinder has trh corresponding grooves, you will have ok compression.
i suspect your scoring is probably below the top of the exhaust and your rings don't have much scoring, thus the high compression. your piston doesn't lok that bad, you cylinder is likely salvageable.

got the ring today. put the saw back together. runs great. 175psi too dark to see how it is in wood. i see it came with a 8 pin 325 sprocket. there is a 7 pin on my 500. what do you run on your 5000's cut4fun?

Just depends. GTG stuff 3/8 7T only.
work saws 3/8 7T and .325 8T and 7T. Each saw seems like they are different. I have a stock 490 that dont pull 3/8's good IMO, so I went 325 on it. Try them all and see what you feel she likes.

Check your carb for the brass governor on the left side. Some have them some dont.

i did not see a governor. i'm real happy with it. seems to hold a lot of RPM,s in the cut.

Take plug out, plug with BB or JB in hole then put plug back in. The gov type thing I call it will flood the carb if you try and go to lean. Shouldnt be a problem with a stock saws though.

Hello Cut4fun what kind of price would you ask for your partner 5000 piston and cylinder, if you would sell a set. Thanks.
