Hi All, Ive got a 2yr old 575xp which runs well once its started but can be a real pig to start when its cold. Once its started it restarts nicely. I used to have a wojo muffler on it and ive just gone back to the stock muffler to see if it make any difference. A few others i know got rid of theirs because they can be hard to start when cold. Does anyone know if its a 575 thang? I have a 338, 346, 660 and 3120 and they all start easier then the 575. Any ideas?? |

Not familiar with the 575, but does the choke butterfly close all the way shut at full choke ? Is the LS set correctly ? Check the choke, then next time you start the saw, grab your carby adjusting screwdriver, let the saw warm up a little and lean off the LS until the sidle suffers (rough running), then slowly open/richen it up a little at a time until response/acceleration is at it's best. You might be surprised how much fuel it takes for this, then reset the idle speed to just below the clutch taking up, then check the HS (it will be affected) so that you are getting a four stroke out of the cut, and it cleaning up under load. (or use a tach if you have one and set the max. RPM to what Husky recommend) Let it cool off then try and start it. If that doesn't work a carby kit, or at least a check of the lever height and pop off pressure may be in order. While Walbro and Zama don't recommend pop off pressure tests these days (only that 10psi be held for 15 seconds or so) too high a pop off pressure will result in hard starting as there isn't enough impulse pressure to pump fuel through into the chamber. |

I have used a couple of 575's. Never found them hard to start. Probably a tuning issue.

Finally got back to looking at the 575. I ended up putting a carby kit on it, which didnt fix it. The carby was the zama c1m. Going from the zama web site this was designed for a 14-55cc engine?? Fortunatly a mate had a new carby for his 576 which we tried. Instantly fixed the problem. Replaced carby. Problem fixed. The new carby part no was 544 19 98-01. |
