Default husky 346xpg

Hi ive got a husky 346xpg and the needle bearings went a week ago, so i changed them, and was told that it was because i wasnt letting the revs drop before applying the chainbreak.

so for the last week ive been letting the revs drop etc and then applying the break and it went again today!!!

ahhhh

any idea why???

Cheers

Are you talking about clutch drum bearing? Wrist pin bearing?

I've never heard of clutch bearings flying apart, because of applying a chain brake. Are they made out of plastic, or steel? Bruce.

Question Re: husky 346xpg

I never heard a story like this before - did the dealer grease the new bearing?

Did you ever grease the old one - how much has the saw been used, and how old is it?

I agree with Saw Troll. I always grease my clutch bearings, even the plastic ones, with the metal rollers.
Even when I put in a new bearing, right out of the package, I grease them. I always grease my bearings, with white grease, 2 to 3 times a year, depending on how much I run the chain saw. Some times more than that.
Greasing, is a very cheap maintenance, to perform, and can cut down on the down time, otherwise than without greasing. Only takes a few minutes, to do.
Bruce.

i dont use my saw anywhere near as much as one of the guys at work who
uses his every day for poss 6 hours of each day

and he hasnt had any problems with his and he doesnt grease his.

which is wot i dont understand, the only thing i do differently to him is that i acctually use my chain brake and hes an idiot and never uses it (having said that hes a danger to him self and everyone cos he hardly ever does sink/gob cuts and normally just does a back cut

I've been running chain saws for almost 29 years. Most of them, with out chain brakes, but now all of my chain saws have chain brakes on them.
I don't use my chain brake, only if I'm trying to get myself into a spot to be able to do limb work, and it get activated, if it gets caught on a limb, or something.
Other than that I don't use it. To rely on something that is man made, and mechanical, is a no no, because mechanical things do, and can fail, especially, when you may need it the most.
So dose this make me an idiot, for not useing my chain brake, or not trusting it to work. No, it just makes me more careful, and aware of things around me, and probably, your co worker works the same way, as I have described. Bruce.
