Help IDing Stihl 044 or 046

I inherited Stihl chainsaw and i am trying to found out which model it is, surfing this forum i found out that serial number starting with 1122 points to models 044 and 046, and sundial beneath cap can tell you month and year in which saw is made, mine says 11 month, and year is W, but i cant find which year W represents?

p.s. is there a way to see is it 044 or 046 without measuring pistons?

What if the cap or top covers have been swapped? I know I have put NOS covers on stihl saws for people worried about looks.

Between my 362xp 365 372 375 376 I cant remember what covers were on what saws originally. But husky is easy to date the crankcase and then there all you have to do is swap tags.

I missed that above, wrong. 1122 = 064, 066, MS 650, MS 660

1128 = 044, 046, MS 440, MS 460

Just going by recoil and no decomp cly. I'm guessing late 064, if it would have had red lenses, I would have guessed early 066.
I have no decomp 066 and it has the red lenses where that 064 has the dot in the plastic.

cut4fun i call what you have a red light ,is yours the limited coil? and id also say that saw is an 064

You have an 064 there, early,mid '90s. If it had a wider rewind housing would then be a 066.
The 1990-91 064 had the "red lite" before the newer introduced 066 in 92-93 and was called "The Brain" in Stihl's 064 ads.

If I'm not mistaken, there where 3 different air filter set ups, for the 064. I have one, with an oval air filter, and it has a different air filter cover, on it. Here is a few pictures of my 064. I'll post some pictures of the air filter later. Bruce.
