It's not my most used saw but it's the one that I like the most, ms660 goes hard and reasonable on weight.

Not really a saw freak but my fav is our 090 named Michelle she lives to eat wood (and anything else you put under her chain!) We have a semi chisel and square chain for her I prefer running the square chain she really goes at it!!! Here's a pic of Tim showing off from about a year ago...probably the most dangerous fell either of us have done. |

Ha, its the bar in the pic thats new....not the saw The problem with the fell is not apparent on any of the four pics taken prior to the final back cuts, this was a very old and large Tamarindus indica tamarind tree, similar in trunk form to a Taxus baccata yew tree in that it is almost like numerous seperate stems grafted together...you can sort of see that in the picture of Tim cutting the scarf. When trees get over a certain age even without obvious damage being done to them you can get hollows and decay working away within the stem structure....perfectly natural and the tree grows reaction wood around its circumference from the cambium to account for the losses internally...however when you come to fell such a tree you don't know where the hollows are exactly nor do you know where the decay is precisely. This old boy had been totally butchered on one side the scarf side by builders attempting to remove the tree...attempting and failing.....so now no weight on that side, just behing the stem on the backside of the tree is the property boundary with two other yards, the span of the remaining upper canopy would reach easily into the next yard over on both sides, and the house directly behind so it had to be felled towards the camera in the Tim pic. We were felling against the weight of the tree, with two very large and heavy scaffolds being held to the single stem by???? Directly above Tim and I as we wedged the tree over (we also had a pull line in the top of the tree) As Tim made his first back cut in order to produce the required hinge he had to cut deep into the base of one of these scaffolds, and in doing so both of us were faced with the problem of judging just how much timber he could cut through before the tree instead of falling according to the scarf broke into at least two section both falling backwards, killing us and seriously damaging two houses. There are no photos since we were somewhat preoccupied with the cutting. It is testiment to Tim's skill as a tree faller of dangerous trees that the job went perfectly, but it one of the very few occaisions when I have not been sure just how things will turn out. We used all 8 of our wedges, and a lot of sweat. One thing that most of you are aware of I think is we all tend to get the more difficult jobs, or called to jobs that others have started and pulled out of, this was one of those. |

I see that sounds like one heck of a job and I'm glad it worked out nicley.I had a rotten oak I was felling and when it started to go over it jumped over the back side of the stump its a good thing I have good reflexs or I'd be a goner when I'm felling trees that i know are rotten on the inside even though the books say its improper technique I make a diaganol back i'd rather go against the book than be dead any day.

MS361 - it is the perfect allround saw around here.... 18" bar for felling, and 15" with 8-pin rim for most limbing and bucking. |

346 and the 365 with a.325 sprocket, chain, and a 16'' bar. like a gaspowered lazer. only problem is that i tend to replace tips often, especially if i pinch it. i have 2 335 husky topping saws that are quick and lite but i always seem to be doing more repairs on them than work with them.

I'll bite. I love the Dolmar 7900 for lightweight to power output. Hard to beat the price and power also for a 79cc saw in the 70-79cc class. Stock it beats all in the class, just the dealer network sucks, except for a few dealers that know how to take care of the dolmar saw owners. Most dolmar dealers seem lost. |

YAAAAAH! Treetrim, you're right, the Dolmar 7900 has the best power to weight ratio by far! The 5100 is also best in class too. But the top handled 3410 lacks high end reving power (good low end torque though) I've switched back to Stihl ms200 for a top handle and have had great reliability with the newer model carb! I run a ported & jetted Husky 3120 for lg. cuts. The 7900 is probably my favorite saw of all time!

Newguy is a mysterious man. Like the pheonix he rises, except this guy just came out of nowhere, has weathered the storms of forum turmoil and somehow managed to sift the shit from clay. Seems in the end he knows who the good guys are, so if ya on his Christmas card list you're OK.

Yes, NewGuy refered me as well, and that was after a post I did elsewhere, and that he responded to, got him getting flamed! I am glad he did though. This site is nice and easy. |

I was also referred by newguy! I really think he is learning a lot on this site and he is just like most of us were when that young, we just can,t remember that far back. Anyway he does believe in husky power so can't be far out there. Favorite to date 372xp for a small saw. |
