| Sawtroll, yeah, you'd think Stihl and Trojan would be getting into some copyright infringement on that one eh? ![]()

| Thanks Therrin, Lightly worked over= tear-dropped intake ports, different reed material, opening exhaust ports slightly, was worth an extra 750 rpm. I have had other Macs that were "heavily worked over", at least one of them, a 797, had been modded too much, hard to start, cold blooded and loud. It ran so hard I was waiting for molten alloy to spill from the muffler. RandyMac |

| Well, it wasn't that it was a bad thing, it reduced it's utility some, I used it as a bucking saw mostly. It pulled a 60" bar, like the stock 797 did with a 36". It was fun to haul it out for those informal bucking contests on the landing. It was good to watch the guys with the newest, biggest saws, still sawing after you had turned the Mac off and set it down. That old thing kept me supplied with beer for years. |

| You won't get any argument on the SP125s, well not from me anyways. The 797 was also 123cc, just not so modern. Funny thing about the two, I ran the 797s a lot, then went to a SP125C, toward the end of the day, I would find myself looking at the driveside, wondering where the starter went. RandyMac |

| I personally don't understand why some of you guys hate Stihl machinery so much. I've got 34 machines from Stihl and I've never ever had a failure due to the machinery itself. I do admit that Husqvarna also has some very very good saws... |

| I remember back in the day, hearing yappin' about Homelites and McCullochs. I don't care for Homies that much, even though I did run some good ones. My Grandad ran Homelites, mostly because his drinking buddy sold them, same with me, my buddy sold Macs. I do own some Homelites, 5 I think, and maybe 10 or 12 Macs. Heck I've even owned a couple Stihls, one was a really good saw, the other only so so. Anyway, whatever works for you, but the rivalry gets old pretty quick. If I was going to buy a new saw, I would be looking at the Dolmars. RandyMac |

| Never heard of a 797 here. My Dad ran a Pioneer, then Stihls and Homelites after his dealer changed to them. He swore by the old Super Whiz. I had a 1050, XL2's and EZ? I think. All were good in their day. had a bad run with Dolmar and Solo here. Dolmars were great for a year or 2, then stared to give problems tha no one seemed able to fix. Solo 640 went great for a couple of years then shat itself before it's time. Mostly Stihl and Husky for the last 20 or so years. Small Poulans for climbing for a while as well, only lasted 6 to 12 months, but were as cheap as dirt then. I still have 2x 020AV's that I bought in 1077 that still run, but not reliably. The 020T/ MS 200 don't last as long. Not to forget the Slo Rex. 100cc of pure and unadulterated VIBRATION!
