My 2 favorite saws would be my 200ms with 14" bar and chain for climbing and my 346 husky for the bucket

newguy18, I just got to bite on that one. You dropped the stihl 051 out of a few trees, then you dropped a tree on it .........no damage.........because of that you won't buy anymore stihls?

Don't you know that one? Maybe stihl doesn't sell them where you live. On the other hand, we do not have a single model of the Stihl Magnum saw here. I've got a friend who uses a Stihl Magnum in competition, but I've allways thought that they were speciality racing saws, untill a while ago...

I use my 011 mostly for limbing and other small diameter stuff, and my 361 for everything else.

Even after getting my 200T, I still prefer the 011 for some reason. Feels like it has more torque. The 028 became my almost-ready-to-retire backup saw.

I've got some poulans that were given to me that I'm trying to decide if I want to fix up or not. The big one is a 306 and the littler one is an 1800. Anyone ever used these?

Therrin, never used those Poulans but years ago there was a small Poulan that was a great climbing saw (relatively). Back in the beginning of time (the hemp rope era, I am a dinosaur) we used to tie Homelite super xl s into the tree with a climbing line and climbing knot (no small saws) and advance it sideways or down with on the rope (a trick that could be used today with an 088 etc.). Then came Mccullough Power Mac 6 s for many years, then Stihl 015 s and then Poulan and a few others were tried. Then the 020 then 020T, the best climbing saw by far ever produced (now called MS200). This saw was designed by Arborists. I know one large company they solicited input toward the design of it.

Anyone but me wonder why nobody but Echo PowerPruner can build a decent big pole chainsaw? Last Stihl I tried was a (woof) dogg. Why can't they just tape a MS200 power head on there and everything would be good?

I personally don't care for pole saws.I'd rateher climb it and make sure its a good collar cut.I can't see it from the ground.

Newguy, maybe I'll send ya these poulans and have ya work em over.

The littler one looks like a good backup saw, and the 306 has a 24" bar on it. Somethin's wrong with the throttle trigger though. its...missing? I could take pictures and show ya. With the little one, if I take the air cover off, and pour mix straight in the carb it'll run for a couple seconds. Gotta be a fuel feed problem somewhere.

I'll pm you my address. The one you gotta pour fuel in the carb try pulling the fuel filter out of the tank and cleaning it.a small piece of wire or some carb cleaner will do.
