My first saw was a brand new Jonsered 2145s with a 16" bar. Then, two of my three BIG oak trees died in the front yard and I decided to take them down myself. Small one was 42" across at the base and the big one was 48". What did I buy for that job? A brand new Stihl MS 361 with a 25" bar! I sold my Jonsered to my father-in-law so he would retire the 80's model Homelite! My 361 is SO easy to take apart for cleaning....I loaned it out once and the guy broke my fuel cap. It leaked 50:1 EVERYWHERE. In one evening, I took it entirely down, all but the jug, piston, crank, and case. Cleaned it up and had it back together the next morning. I like a clean saw! And man, does this thing run now that it's had about five gallons of fuel run through it! BTW, I'm just a homeowner, middle 20's....I'm not lucky enough to be making my living with a saw. |

Hey Logger Ally, Can you post a picture of your Mono? My father-in-law has one of those in his barn, minus the air cleaner and what-not. Not running, I have no idea what it would take to fire it up, but it's a monster! |

I voted for Husky as that's what I prefer however I am not opposed to Stihl. Both are great saws. I also like my newly acquired Shindaiwa 757 with a whopping total of 45 minutes on it that my buddy at the saw shop gave me for $275.

I vote for Stihl and I have friends in the business that speak highly of them also.

I wonder how the Hitachi saws go? I have a Makita hedger which is almost a Tanaka(copy) about $200 cheaper than the real thing. The blade is not the same quality though. |

the same factory makes some solo equipment, Atm no Makita outdoor power products are coming out of China Hitarchi brought Tanaka I have a new petrol/gas drill that is branded with both Tanaka and Hitachi lables and stickers Both to me are the best valued for my money atm especially when I can get a 90cc for half the price of the stihl equiv providing you dont drop a tree on it like I did lol worth a far closer look their top handle saws but are lacking in power compared to the Sthil. At one point just about every brand of saw was top notch so how can't a guy like them all?

My no.1 favourite saw ATM is the Ozito top handle arb saw. x10 for the price of one proper saw and all the door to door hacks are using them. |

I bought: ozito T/H stihl 260 & 660 (new) second hand 044 and echo 420es stihl 044 (#2) 361 stihl 088 In my opinion I'm not a hack and I dont have time to door knock. But I do also see many utes with ladders and ozito saws running around doing "palm trimming". Not that there is anything wrong with nasty palms, thtas probably 24% of our work. But I guess we all had to sart somewhere right? | |

Does not matter, I just like chainsaws. I have a husky 330, a CS 400 Echo, a newer 46cc Homelite that is basically a piece of crap, I did not realize that they are made in China now, and a soon to be Stihl MS311 that I am really looking forward to.
