Echo has this recall on the old 500vl chainsaw. My dad has one that is in real good shape. Runs great actually. The problem is this he decided to go ahead and take in for the recall. He gets back a cs450 which is not the same size saw. He was suppose to get back a cs530 which has been discontinued for the new cs-500 but it is not available yet. I think he should call them and either get his old saw back or wait on the new 500. What do you guys think?

The flywheel was suppose to grenade and cause possible fatal injury! Yikes!

When the Dolmar 6400-7300-7900 first come out they recalled them for flywheels too. Just installed updated flywheels since they were a new model. I had one that got the update. |

Sounds like idiots using a hammer on the flywheel was the cause for the recall. There's no way I would have given up a good running good shape 500 for the newer one JMO. Here is the recall notice from 1986 http://www.echo-usa.com/pdf/recalls/CS500VLe_082886.pdf |

I think he needs to either get his back or get the new 500.

I would think he should get the same size saw back Problem, is that the new CS-500 is selling good at the dealers. Echo may have a tough time supplying dealers with the CS-500 Get in touch with Echo: Get the old CS-500VL back or get a new CS-500. |
