Im looking for some info on the double dawg kits for stihl saws. I have an 036 and a brand spankin new 441 (havent even got it yet) i would like to install them on. Is this a factory order item or aftermarket? Where would be a good place to order something like this? Websites or private dealers are both welcome options... thanks in advance for any info provided

Just ask your dealer to order them for you or check the internet.

I have these on my MS361 and they work really well! Plus, the kit comes with a different chain-catcher that's better than the hook from the factory. My dealer ordered mine from Stihl and it was like $35.

ordered two sets today when i went to pick up my new 441... got there and the power head was there but no stinkin bar. turns out the bars are all on back order. wish my dealers (i have two locally) were into the bigger stuff and kept the 25" on hand. they didnt even have a 20" to sell me. Ill pick it all up at the same time i guess.

Wow a dealer that does not stock bars longer then 20" is no dealer worth knowing. Mate what size wood and species you hackin on? The 441 is not very popular with us logger types. The 441 with a full wrap and stiff sprins and 28" ES lightweight bar and full skip chain will do every tree that grows east of the Mississippi Me I prefer the 460 Stihl with a 36" bar and full skip |

i didnt do alot of research before i ordered the saw. it was just a tish under my budget so that was the deciding factor. i now realize i should have upgraded to the 460 and found a way to pay for it... oh well. I cut alot of bur oak or white oak and ash trees. mainly for firewood but sometimes i do a little tree removal. the reason i wanted bigger than my 036 is right now im clear cutting a 3 acre plot with big boxelders bout 3-4ft dia. the 36 works fine but i just wanted more bar and more motor for fellin and cuttin up the trees. the HP means alot when im cuttin the forks small enuff to load in a pickup by myself. i can see myself gettin into a 460 or maybe even a 660 someday but i really have no use for it. just kinda cool to pull out a big saw when everybodys pullin out their little dep store huskies and 026 stihls

RedNeckTreeKiller -- There are a few trees east of the Mississippi that a 28" bar won't handle. I have done a few, and have been right happy to have had a 43" bar -- longer than needed, but at least wasn't too short.......

If your stuck with a 441 learn to sharpen your chain more often and it will work fine. Oak is a hard wood so a lighter touch is required when cutting it with a lower power saw. A semi skip non safety chain chain help a weak saw claw thru wood better. |

Take it slow with the new saw and learn the personality of the saw. |
