Default Difference between Stihl 7t & 7Z rim sprockets

Hi Y'all,

I've been bugging Scott with emails and don't want to wear out is seemingly bottomless generosity, so I thought I'd ask the chainsaw sages herein instead. Any help would be great, thanks.

I've got a MS310 (stop laughing, Eksta) and looking to swap the current chain sprocket for a rim sprocket. IPL shows the 3/8" kit (drum, sprocket, etc) as 1125 007 1002, and calls it 7T. I've seen sellers on ebay use the same part number, but call it 7Z.

Does anyone know what the difference is, if any?
Muchas gracias,

Hacking Weekend Warrior.

If the part number s the same I d say its a 7 tooth rim sprocket. on my ms361 i couldnt get the cog type so had to get the other, the one that sits onto cluch cover as a pose to the one on my 026 which is both in one. If you can get the parts list alot of e bay ers who sell sthil parts will just e mail it you and these are key not the 7z 7t. they just sell stuff and probably dont even know the difference if ther is one. good luck

Cool Re: Difference between Stihl 7t & 7Z rim sprockets

If the Stihl IPL numbers are the same, then it is the same part. The "Z" is something I haven't seen. Scott is by far the expert on deciphering this type of wierd stuff with Stihl oddities. He's probably forgotten stuff none of us even learned yet. Anyhoo--The only part I can think of with a "Z" in Stihl world is the RZ designation for the 460RZ (full wrap) model. Sorry, I know that doesn't help much, but I'd say IPL is right, Z is probably a misprint by somebody who doesn't know any better and everyone else followed after looking at descriptions to figure out what to call their part.

Tks. I ended up buying new from baileys rather than roll the dice on Ebay. And yep, if I could learn even 1/4 of what Scott's forgotten about chainsaws, I'd be pretty chuffed with myself.

I don't know what prompted his departure from this site (and nor do I want to go down that road), but I for one miss his input on this forum.

Glad you got the right part. Baileys is a good place to get pretty good deals from. Madsens sells stuff seems a little cheaper but their catalog info needs some work. ------------Yeah, I learned alot of good stuff from Scott's posts on here. Sure was nice to log on, ask a question and know you were going to get some accurate info with alternate perspectives.
