Angry dealership problems

I have a husqvarna saw -345.
My local (Ipswich, Qld,Australia) husky dealership whilst very friendly staff, seem to take a long time for some basic (in my opinion) parts. eg 14 days for a replacement 16in bar, 17 days and still ongoing for an air filter, 22 days for replacement choke switch. Is this normal husqvarna problem in other people's experience. Any options or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure how Husky work as I have Stihls.

Stihl have central distribution network to dealers. Their inventory should be self topping as parts run down in stock.

If a part is out of stock and you have to wait for Germany to send then a long wait.

Consumables like filter, bar, chain etc is always available and I get within 3 days.

With some things like bars, you can get other brands like Oregon, GB etc so worth a look around.

With consumable parts I always have spares, including clutch springs, drums, sprockets, air cleaners and even oil pumps etc .... nothing worse than waiting for parts.

I think your dealer is not ordering parts daily, accumulates orders. and maybe same for the other end. Also sometimes they will hold up an order waiting for 1 thing so they should ring you back and say we have bla bla to send now but such n' such is not in till next week.

My dealerships do the same thing. If they don't have a part they don't order it just because I need it. They wait till they have a shipment order complete that's either the total for a week or two, or an amount over a certain $ limit.

Actually, all of the saw shops I've gone to (at least 4 I've done regular business with) operate that way. It *is* annoying at times, when you're dealing with a tight schedule or a deadline.

Like Ekka said, order extras of the "consumable" parts that you might need. That way even if you don't need them at the time, you'll have them when you do need them.

Bars, chain, air filter, air filter cover, extra bar nuts, pull starter assembly, fuel line & filter, oil pump assembly, spark plugs, oil and gas reservoir caps, screnches, sprockets, etc.

Ekka gave me this advice about 3 years ago, and its very sound advice. At the time I figured I'd just get stuff as I needed it. But later on I found that *already* having for example, a spare pull starter assembly, is VERY USEFULL when you're out in the field and one busts and you don't have the time to either tie/wind a new one, or go to the shop and buy another one.

My husky dealer will order the parts without waiting on a bigger parts shipment. But I do have to pay for the shipping to get the parts in 2-3 days when not in stock. Usually about $3-$5 bucks extra for shipping.

What about little silly things like this.

Bar nuts, that little circlip thing that holds the drum on, oil and fuel caps, oil and fuel cap washers, starter cord etc. These are the sort of little things that if they break or you lose them then it's a real PITA and you'll be kicking yourself.

The older Stihl's have caps where you put a screw driver in the slot and open, sometimes that slot gets rounded out and very hard to open, other times oil etc leaks out as it's been puched through.

If you do not have a spare carry some of that Selly's Knead It style stuff, I have some all purpose in the tool box and you can dough up some, shove it down that hole and pack it in, then shove a screw driver in it for the slot .... carefully remove the screw driver and like 30minutes later you are operational again.

I cracked the top of the air cleaner cover bad, puttied it up with some of that stuff and was all good to go in 30 minutes. sets hard as a rock.
