As for Husky, I've had a premature breakdown with one too.
Both breakages were within one week to one month.

Right now I have 3 small / medium saws: An Echo, a Stihl and a Husky. All have a few years left in them.

After we get back to Portland, I would like to get a Husqvarna 3120 XP with a 24" to 32" bar, merely for cutting up fallen trees when I subcontract with another arborist who climbs.

Basically, the saw will just be a huge butterknife.

Heavier to lift, but more weight on each down-cut.

I'm bit of a stihl man myself. 019's, 020's, 036's, 361's, 044's, 066's.
Hate to admit I once bought a 039....absolute crap.
HT75 Pole saw. I think everyone has had problem with the cahins on these. Seems like the oil pumps like to go. At $95AUD not a cheap remedy. Add to this the chain has a mind of its own!!!

My mate bought a new one, it does the same!

Also, for cleaning out the oil thingo every now and then I run fuel through it, have bar an chain off and make sure it's clean through and pumping. Sometimes the little gauze filter thing gets blocked a bit, right PITA to get too. But that doesn't stop the chain being crazy.

The New Edition 50cc 346xp will surely offer the 5100S some serious competition (we have both) - the 50cc 346xp is a very strong running saw with gobs of torque for the size, totally different from the screaming, but low torque, 45cc version.

Max rpm is 14100, as opposed to 14700 for the old 346 and 14500 for the 5100. It accellerates (responds) better than the 5100 though, is lighter, and handles better for limbing etc.

1XMS192T, 2xMS200T, 1X 024(stihl going!), 2 X MS460, 1 X 066(stihl going!)
HT75(same shit problems)
And a bench full of basketcase saws for parts

Just ordered: MS361

Coming soon: MS441 & MS880

Pretty biased to stihl but some husky models are good, but no dealers near me for parts back up.

I do have a Shindaiwa hedgetrimmer, couldnt justify cost of stihl for how little its used

Trev, these big wood cutters reckon the 120 husky over the 88 stihl. I see lots of the guys who fell large eucs favour the big husky.

Yeah ive used a 3120 years ago and more recently for some milling.
And actually havent used an 880 but used to have an ol' 084.
Its more that i can get an as new 880 for $1000 of someone i know whose got one but never cuts anything that big.
