Hi All, I thought there was a thread about modified air filters for stihl but i cant seem to find it. Anyway.. My 660 seems to be getting dust past the air filter and building up around the intake to the carby and ill assume a small amount passing into the carby. The housing, covers etc around the filer are all in good nick with nothing broken etc. Im cleaning the filter every day but there is still a build up Does anyone have any tips or mods to improve the filtration system? |

| Here are a couple pics of the extreme service filter kit for the 660's & 880's it consists of a heavy duty filter, foam pre filter and cover plate. I run them on all of my 660's & 880's. If your saw is still under warranty it should be supplied at no cost, Stihl Aust are quite aware of the problem. Laurie |

The newer HD2 filters have fixed my problems.

Make sure it sits tight to the base plastic. Sometimes they need a little tweaking. For me a after market v stack is the only air filter worth my time. |
