Galbee , I heard that the 460 is way better than the 441. However, I've only weilded them around at my dealers sales counter and in his parking lot.And the 441 feels like its "wanna-be".

I hear its a good if not excellent saw, the saw of the future for Stihl. It may be the same weight as the larger 460 but the cc and power will soon be raised to pass the 460. Its funny how it took Stihl about 18 years to catch on to the technology that Husqvarna, Partner and Jonsered had originally developed with their air injection / turbo and the spring anti-vibe. |

ok so a new generation 441 will be a better buy I tried a 441 last year whilst felling pines in uk but pines are soft wood and most of the stuff here is hard as hell, i did consider the 460 but there are all sorts of rumours and false info flying around.

I'd be going the 460 route personally, most wood is hard around here and there's a big difference in power. Not saying 441's are bad, just not enough balls when it's the same weight as a 460. Some-one sawing all day like a firewood man or logger might prefer the 441 for it's anti-vibe and fuel consumption, but for me the 460's the go. I liked the old 440's but the 441 is too heavy now, weighs same as 460 but less grunt.

Yes the 460 is a real nice saw, just think of a 440 on steriods. Your probably best to buy one soon before they become obsolete. You will have no problem getting parts for them long after they are discontinued. Stihl still supplies parts for saws discontinued in the 1970s. Thats what they are famous for "service."

I just buy 066s now, from 361's and 365 huskis just grab a 66 and be done with it. Saying that ill be asking my dealer if the 441 is getting tuned up for more power than a 046

The 46 is a pretty powerful saw, used it up in the tower the other day on a dead pine, ripped through it like it was no ones business.

My 441 is about 6 months old and I wouldn't have chosen any other saw in that cc range. The anti-vibe is great. I can use it all day long and it does not take a toll on the body. As far as weight goes ...if one pound or so is too heavy then someone needs to work out in the gym a little more. Just |
