The best set up I've seen here is a local guy that buys 2 climbing saws when his saws start to get a bit old. He doesn't run his saws into the ground before he replaces them, so the old saws then become the ground saws. He always seems to get a pretty good deal on his saws because he always buys 2 at a time. Since I've known him he's had 200T's, Echo's & Huskies. But the Huskies became ground saws very quickly! ![]() He's got bigger saws too, but he is the only one who is allowed to use those (440, 660) |

How about the Stihl MS230? It's quite strong and with it's no-tool needed chain adjuster you can change bars & chains in a flash.

were training the new guy to keep the chain out of the dirt but he messes up alot. im teaching him how to sharpen the chain properly so he can take care of the groundie saws. once he stops putting the saw in the dirt, i might let him touch my 260.

Another range of saws to consider is Zenoah. I've seen here in Japan how these saws can stand up to alot of punishment.

he has learned how to keep it out of the dirt so far but i think im going to keep the cheaper saws for the groundies. i trust no one with my big saws. im sure you know how hard it is sharpening a 36" bar after teaching your groundie to buck large wood. hhaha

Yeah, alot of time is lost when chains get screwed up, and sharpening long chains...hell of a job.
