Default 395 vid

Dont make it over here much, don't know if there is much interest in these kinda threads. This is a 395 I just finished up building. Its ported, with a husky 2101 piston machined to a popup. Its a 8T sproket, chain is not ideal, I need to learn to sharpen a faster chain.

We have html turned off, so embedding doesn't work.

Seems to run real sweet that saw, picks up the revs fast, what's it tach'n too, 15K?

I wonder when you do this to saws, can the rev out till they blow up?

Ok, no html. Right now it's running slightly rich at 13k for breakin. And I'm sure you could blow it up if revved too high, I don't usually rev WOT out of the cut too long. Only for tuning. This saw has allot of compression, so it needs to be warmed up for a few minutes before cutting, otherwise, a saw builder told me the piston could heat up much faster then the cylinder and seize, the piston also has a ceramic coated crown, to keep the heat out of the piston.

Your going to have a strong runner there parrisw, put some hours on it and fine tune that sawchain.

Ya, I like it. And yes, I need to learn how to square file a chain.

A good round filed chain can be quick too. Was your log you demoed on in your video dry? Try a piece of green cottonwood and really impress the audience.
I had the best wood modded saws with about 2,000 hours on the bottom end and about 50 hours on the modded piston and cylinder. No tightness there to hold those saws back in rpm.

It was Dry Fir. I usually just grind my chains.

Thanks I've seen that before. I do know how to sharpen well, and I can get it very sharp with the grinder. I was just thinking I need a faster then that, since with 8t sproket and pushing as hard as I can the saw wont bog, I'd like to try square chain. I'm waiting on the Valorbe square guide.

Take back my earlier post parrisw, if that is dry fir your 395 is cutting in your video then the speed is very impressive. You got a strong saw there. Dry fir is tough to cut!

Thanks!! I was grinning ear to ear after that run, I still think I can make it faster though, with a little more time on the chain.
