Default 338XPT Crankshaft

Hi All, I need a crankshaft to fit my 338, or even another wrecked 338 for parts. I'm using a T435 at the mo which is hopeless, i miss my 338

I would like to hear the likes and dislikes still of a comparison between the two . Like is it a power problem, feel, balance etc etc.

Being I have never ran or seen a 435 338 334 this is all I have to go on and we all know specs aren't worth much IMHO. I want actual user input.

New crankshaft in the US dealer shows $119 + shipping.

There is a 338xpt on FEEbay for BIN $99. Just ask them if they will ship USPS to you instead of the UPS ship they have listed. http://cgi.ebay.com/Husqvarna-model-338XPT-16-inch-PARTS-chain-saw-/190416489499?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Chainsaws&hash=item2c55b50c1b

Cheers mate, apparently the part numbers on the cranks are different so the dealer reckons they won't fit unfortunately

Compare Husqvarna Chainsaws and Petrol Chain Saws
Well, I guess I haven't really given it much of a chance.... after 2 days of use I found it underpowered, needed re tuned twice in 2 days, heavy for a 35 cc t.h. saw and don't like the flimsy looking lanyard attachment points. I think it will go better with a smaller gauge chain than the 3/8 LP fitted. I reckon I'll also put a 14 inch bar on it when I change the chain. It went ok yesterday on a Tasmanian Blue Gum though, so seems to be getting better the more its used. The other thing I don't like is the chain brake, it keeps popping back on and sometimes hard to engage which is pretty annoying.

Pro's are...Loud! though doesn't sound smooth, and easier access than 338 to filler caps.

I'll see how it goes after another 5 or so fills.

Thanks for that update.

I ran the Solo 637 for 3 days straight and it is finally starting to break in and seems to be getting stronger (even though it will never run like a GOOD running 200T I had).
The spring AV IMO is top notch, never felt any vibs while running or afterward in my hand.
I even used to to buck up a small Buck-thorn tree that went down in the storm to test its 12" 3/8 LP 050 bar and VXL chain I switched it to, from the 14" .043 3/8 LP that came on it from the factory.
Yeah I 1 handed it most of one day limbing and going into about 5 hours straight it did seem to start to feel heavy in my 1 handing with arm stretched out.
I never shut the saw off during it's cutting sessions I would just set it down and let it idle till I was ready for it again and when I did shut it off in day 2-3 I could grab it and it would start on 1 pull. For the $279 price tag the saw is well worth the price to me.
I see in Oz it goes for a price of $600. It isnt no 200T and its not built like a 200T, but you might want to try one when you can buy 2 for the price of 1 over there.
