056 you say??? Ok, ok.... Decided to take a little "family photo." All 1115 series machines. The 045 is a 48mm standard 045. I just re-did this one for a friend. It was his deceased BIL's saw. I always thought 045's were crap, though I had never run one. After this saw, I would not pass on another. It is very pleasant to run. The 056 with the bar is the one I just got. The other two are MAGs, though one is locked up. I have not pulled the muffler to verify that the "new" one is a MAG, but it has all of the correct external pieces. I hope it has an SEM ignition. It is missing the inner cylinder shroud and has signs of ignition molestation. Seems to run OK, though. My other runner 056 (3rd from left) is very stout, but has a little piston slap. That makes me nervous so I don't run it much. There has recently been a run of aftermarket 56mm pistons coming up on ebay, so I may try one of those in the locked up saw. If it works out they'll probably all get new pistons. Muffler baffle scrapped out. Typical. Not sure if I can still buy these or not. Missing ignition switch. Bad sign. Note the protector along the side for the switch. This is a MAG thing. Correct MAG air filter cover with the rectangles along the edge. All of the other 1115 saws had solid plastic there. |

Somethings up SawDr with the pics in your post. I had a look and the images you linked to are not there. Try reloading the pics to this server. I'll then merge the posts.

Very nice lineup you got there. Those C-series Homelites were very successful and durable saws starting in 1962. Your 72 is a 80cc model which first came out in 1963. These saw's offspring were the XL models from 26cc to 82cc which set the chainsaw industry on its ear starting in 1964. Good lineup of 045-056s. Many diehard Stihl owners stuck with the 056 models still in use today. The new generation 064,066,650, 660 were not for everyone. Talk to some retired PNW fallers who quit falling old growth timber in the mid 1980s ,the time when the new generations were introduced. 056 Mag II at 94 cc is a hell of a tough saw. Willard. |

Hey Cliff! Imagine meeting you in a place about chainsaws...... Good to see you here. Hope you had a great new years. I got those Homelite brush bows coming from Brad. Not sure how big they are. XL-12 is the smallest Homie that is here to stay. If those bows are too small, I'll send 'em your way. I think I'll leave the straight bar on the C-72. It might be fun to sink it into some 30" wood once in a while. |

I don't like AS anymore. Any bow bars you don't want I would take. My newyears was fine. Why do I have to type those Goofy words everytime just to make a post? Thats the only thing I don't like about this site. | |

I heard this was one of the last good Macs. Pro mac 805. Looks like original bar and chain and couldnt have more then a couple of hours of cutting time. So I picked it up after just about being in stihlboy backyard to get it (about 30mins north). ![]() |
