OK so I'm new here although been involved in the tree business off and on for over 30 years in different capacitys. What I've got is an old 020 AV Professional that's been spewing out oil at an unbelieveable rate. I took the bar and chain off to inspect after a carb overhaul and it is just pulsating out this "way too much" amount. Is there a way to turn this down so I'm not getting as much oil? I've read different threads about this problem and can't seem to find out the particulars about where to make these adjustments and even sent to Stihl for their operators manual but it doesn't describe anything about this in detail which I need. Thanks, Richard

On the bottom of the saw there should be an adjustable screw, probably on the right front side. That is the oil pump adjustment screw,it should also be accompanied by small marks on the saw indicating which way increases and decreases.

I looked this thing over pretty good for something like that before I sent in the question as I'd seen somewhere a remark that there was a place to make an adjustment for that purpose. It appears there isn't, at least on these old saws as on the very bottom it is as smooth as can be with no hint of a recess for a screw adjuster. This saw seems too nice to be screwed up but it is. I've got a top handle saw that runs beautifully but needs a clutch and am thinking of taking this one apart to make that one run. Any chance my local dealer is giving me a line when he told me a new clutch is $75?

I went through the IPL for my 024 the other day, and there are two types of Oil Pumps for the 024 Model Chain Saw. The Oil Pump that I have is the one that you can not Adjust, like what is on your Chain Saw, and the Oil Pump keeps on running, even when the Chain Saw is Idling. The other type of Oil Pump runs off the Clutch Drum. Once the Clutch Drum moves, it runs the Oil Pump, and this one you can adjust. Check your IPL for your Chain Saw, and see if the other Oil Pump, that runs off the Clutch Drum is there, and this one you can adjust. I hope this helps you. Bruce.
