I made these out of Black cherry Prunus serotina about 9 yrs ago. The only other thing i ever did with wood was cut simple coasters.

Real nice furniture Mike, if your house ever gets broken into, you'll know how tough the crimianals are by what they leave behind. How heavy is the coffee table, and how did you dry down the wood?

I'm in agreement with Eric the last shot is great with all those radial sections on the table....lol just thought what my misses would say if i had a range of coasters like that! I'd spend hours just looking at them and the snap shot of the tree's life they can give you!!! |

Thanks, It ended up being more work than i thought it would be. I got lucky on the drying; the log sat in the garage for a few weeks & the clothes dryer exausts warm moist air in to the garage, which i think made them dry out more slowly. There was still some "checking" along the rays though, but who cares!!!?
