Question Nesting Logs??

Any of u guys make nesting logs for birds? We started making nesting logs and man was i suprised by the outcome of that. Must say it was some tough work to get the operation going because me and a friend had to build this new nesting log boring machiene. But its working like a new STIHL. Absaloutly bloody fantasttic.

Great stuff, so you can hand make different dia holes in logs depending on the target bird right?

So, you going to show some pics?

never made a nesting log but i have left the butts standing and place wooden platforms on them for the eagles. every so often we hoist up a carcass and wire it down. work really well.

Carcass of slow workers?
Cheaper than paying redundancy, I guess.

I'd really like to see how your'e doing that CC, we really need good habitat here on the Gold Coast, as all the veteran trees are long gone (apparently, shit palms look so much more GC....)(!)
And, of course, with no nesting sites for the birds....the insects are a much worse problem for the small number of trees that are left....as if they don't have enough to deal with...

Hey CC. Gidday from an ex Saffa now in Australia. My brother used to make piles of nesting logs for parrots and sold them in South Africa, as well as exported them. He used the old fashioned heavy digging tool (heavy cast iron spike) to hollow them out. (and plenty human power!) He tried a borer with limited success. If you have it perfected, I would be interested in what your machine is all about. Cheers, Trevor.
