Ask the manf of both to give you a couple of references and ring them ... like ring the owners of them and see what they say, ask what they think of other brands etc.

Which is more accurate and gives the better finish etc.

They should do that for you.

ive got a lucas 827 kolher 27hp motor good cheap mill but 100% manual operated [you have to push and pull]they also do a 3 phase mill head for static setups where there's power.Peterson also do a manually operated mill and some mills semi automatic but much more money
mostly we slab with our mill but it can cut up to 215mm x 215mm dimensioned timber

There is also the "Ecosaw" that used to be the "Lewisaw" which was the first, or so I am led to believe, of the swingblade mills that had a fixed motor with only the blade rotating from vertical to horizontal.
The man to speak to is Arthur Dyason and they are located near Belingen in northern NSW.
I have no business association with Mr. Dyason other than I came across his product while researching mills for my own use.
Decisions, decisions. Lucas seem to be the cheapest mill by far at the moment but Peterson have some design advantages that will save you time and lots of walking.
Where did I leave me medication?
Oh, I forgot. Peterson have an agent up Qld. way who will be carrying spare parts and perhaps a new mill or 2 sometime in the near future.

The Peterson man in Australia is Jim Whitaker, phone no. is 07 41939249.
And no, I have no association with the gentleman, the info is from Peterson Sales in NZ.
Dennis.

Hilly

thanks for the mention.

The EcoSaw website is currently unavailable as it has been hacked again. The security of the hosting company has become very lax so we have now moved host and are currently rebuilding the site.

If you have any questions about our mills just email and I will do my best to help.

Apart from the swingers we have just release two bandsaws designed for use on Australian hardwoods. Pics and videos will be available soon.

We also have a range of accessories you can use on any manufactures mills. Bets to make like easier unless you like the grunt.

cheers

arthur

I've used both Peterson ASM and Lucas. Although Peterson is more money the fact that it is automatic means alot less work and much faster operation. I can cut about 7 or 8m3 of 100x100mm x 3.7m in 8 or so hours without too much sweat.
