Is Japanese Pagoda Tree/Sophora japonica good firewood? I got 1 chord for free. Very hard&heavy but with a funny smell when moist. Will it take long to dry? Thanks 7sleeper |

Hi 7sleeper. I Have never used Japanese pagoda as firewood But have used Robinia pseudoacacia quite a bit and that burns well, splits well, it dosn't take too long to dry and puts out plenty of heat. The robinia also has an unpleasant smell when wet like many other Fabaceae species. Hope that helps. Kauriman |

I asumed that it might be similar to Robinia. Does the smell persist during burnig? I will formilate different. Is it wood for the closed furnace or can I use it in the open funace without evacuating the house because of some type of smell? Thanks 7sleeper | |
