hi guys, I have recently aquired a huge redgum tree that i am currently negotiating with mills to 'slab' for me. the slabs will be approx 5mtrs x 1.5mtrs x 75mm thick, obviously getting narrower as we mill the log. Also the bottom of the tree is a huge burl, approx 2mtr radius which will also slab into 75mm thick slabs. Anyone interested? anyone know anyone who might be interested in buying the slabs? this is truly the redest of timber i have ever seen, just clear it, no need to stain.

i can take photos of the tree now, but its not milled yet, just bargaining for the best price to have it done. price once its done will be relevant to size and quality of the slabs. basically looking now for genuine interest in the timber but as soon as its milled ill post some pics and prices.

Look forward to it, I'm interested in both a slab of the trunk and a slab of the burl. Thanks for the reply |

What about that big burl? Could be a waste to mill it, I heard once that some guy made a hot tub out of a huge burl, sold it for a motza. I'd like to see pics before it gets cut up.

yeah ive seen bathtubs made out of em, they look awesome, the limit is your imagination, i just want to be able to transport it easily so slabbing it would make sense, but if someone wants it whole then money talks i suppose. it would be atleast 1.5 -2 tons so would need a truck and crane to cart it. ill try and get to it on the weekend to take some photos.
