Everything is good. Seems like it went from 70 degrees to 30 degrees daytime temp with nothing in between. I cleaned the flue and stove out last week but was going to do the chimney later. I lit it and the whole basement then house filled with smoke and I had to shut it all down. I think I got a squirrel's nest up in there and when it stops raining I'm gonna go up there and get it out with my cherry picker. Wifey wasn't real happy about that one.

What is the story on the "stick and string" deer killer?

The song "A Country Boy Will Survive" By Hank Jr. comes to mind.

Hoot how do you cook your venison i have one piece left from a doe i killed and fancy trying it a bit different, i usually cook it slow in a pot with the lid on, half an onion touch of water and juniper berries.

i used to slice my meat in strips for jerky . but now i grind it and run it through this caulking gun kinda thing . made about 40 lbs of jerky last week befor drying . gets real small real quick . i use a dry seasoning on mine . dont care for the liquid smoke stuff in a bottle . i have a home made dryer and it takes about 18 hours or so to dry 5 trays full . jst makes a good treat when your out in the woods somewhere or when your wife has to go to one of those fancy eating places . i also dry mine really dry , so it dont have to be kept in a refigerater. h

Hoot, now I feel bad for not going hunting this year, it's the first time in 30 years I haven't gone out. That sounds like great tasting jerky. You make yours like I like mine.

Feel free to send me about 20lbs.

LOL Hoot, I live in huntin' heaven. The world record whitetail was shot about 55mile from me. There are 35 mule deer living in a field one mile North of my farm. We have about 50 swamp donkies (moose) walk through our yard a year, and the speed goats (antelope) are hearded up. The last few weeks I have seen 2 heards of about 35 in each, all around the farm.

Nope, finding a critter to shoot at isn't the issue! Finding the time to git-r-done IS.
