Hmmm, a foot operated hydraulic lever would free up 2 hands and really get cracking. ![]() Bloody good though.

hi good idea a foot operated hydraulic lever, although not sure my brain would keep up haha...ive seen some horribly slow wood splitter's on youtube...How do we cut the wheels up? well chainsaw as you know our hard wood is very heavy,we cut the log into wheels if there to big to lift we cut them in half and if there still to big we cut the half's in half..when say we need a truck load 30ton one man cuts the the logs up and one man splits the wood, that way no stopping get heaps done in a day.lost count of how many ton we have done this winter |

Hi, new here. A few things I see with your wood spliter is all the log sections have to be picked up by hand which could lead to a bad back at the end of the day. If you had a bobcat or old backhoe you could scoop them up in the bucket and place next to the splitter saving repetative back strain. Also if your hydraulics are strong enough, try to get a thick piedce of steel plate, Bisaloy ( wear plate ) would be great and weld six or eight block buster heads onto the underside of the plate to split the log up in one go. When I see the operation and if the guy is not paying attention/r someone distracts him I could see a serious hand injury. Just some thoughts to make it easier / safer and quicker. Dont need firewood in Darwin NT though. |
