Does anyone have a chart, table or link that shows what is good firewood and what isn't? On occasion people offer me logs to use as firewood but obviously some tree species are better than others. I would even guess that burning some woods may even stink up the house.

Thanks Firewolf that's what I was looking for. Anyone know if Tulip-Poplar is worth burning? I know someone who's removing a few of those trees and wants to get rid of the wood.

They're good links, thanks for posting them. Anyone burn Liquid Amber/Sweet Gum, I can't see it on either list. According to another site it burns well but I've tried it, doesn't burn even after 2 years. There's a lot around here, I try to avoid removing them because of that. I put some out the front yesterday, someone took it. Hope I don't get it back next year. |
