Hi Guys, ( and Girls ), thought I'd drop you all a quick line to let you know whats happening and why I havn't been around for a while. Unfortunately, with working long hours and not being able to get home in time to spend time with wifey, things came to a head when I found someone else was. We seppartated and subsequently the kids have gone into care. So my work now relies in a divorce and child custody battle. However, I do intend on returning back to work and catching up with you guys ( and Girls ), in the near future. Best wishes to you all, TreeSurfer.

Thanks for the welcome, Ekka I'm a long time wood worker, now trying to learn how to use a (Husqvana) chainsaw properly. I've used it for a few hours and can sharpen it so-so, but don't really have the basics in this art, so thought this would be a good place to learn. Hired a guy with a Lucas mill (horizontal chain type) recently to slab a silky oak for me. The results were great! Unlike my efforts at the offcuts! Fireweb |

What are you going to hunt? And how are you hunting, like guns, traps or similar to some Aussie pig hunters ... dogs and knives.

Hey, The weather here (Melbourne, Vic.), has been pretty crazy lately. Really high winds, and there has been quite alot of storm damage. At the start of this year i went back to school doing my Diploma in Arb. Work is always constant, which is good. My favourite on-going job at the moment is a cluster of really old Red Gums, we've been dead-wooding. They'ld average 70 foot in height and there thought to be several years old.

Phone is still ringing! I mail out reminder letters to my client base, and within three days they call back telling me to start work. Life is good man! Normally this time of year things slow down. Hope all is well around the globe. |

Hey there, just thought I'd introduce a little...Just been reading all your posts, its great to see how things are for other treefolk around the world. Rain must be good for you there, but here in england i miss the sunshine, though neither of us should take either for granted eh? Things are slow here, and i was kind of forced into self employment some months back. I have been subcontracting myself out to a relitavely small-time company who are offering me steady work. This is mainly a hedge reduction contract for the M.O.D. with some climbing work coming in dribs and drabs. I was going to invest some money in tools etc, but have decided to come and see what the crack is in Australia. I'm just trying to compile all my credentials, photos etc so i can start firing them off to you guys out there. Please read my thread TREE SURGERY, BOOM OR BUST IN OZ. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Oh, P.S. my favourite drink is Cider. Do you have it on tap out there? Cheers. Gav | |

Went hiking on the weekdn @ Buangor State Forest. 8.5km pretty much all uphill with LOTS of steep bits on the first day, took about 5 hours. Then yesterday the group done 2km in 45m, they went up to this lookout (I was in pain so couldnt care less), I kept going to the cars. In 1h10m I covered about 7km with a 20kg pack. The downhill walk was almost a run it was that steep and forcing myself to go slow just hurts more. So now im home with my tree climbing assessment today and my shoulders hurt when they get some pressure and my waist hurts like some clown dropped a limb on me AND to top it off i've had a headache since Thursday. But I did get some nice pics. |

Saw this after picking up the ute to do stumps, I just stopped without thinking and took a picture. Each time I think about it I just burst into laughter. |

great thanks for the reply, things are fine albeit need more rain. Not sure what is happening with the dams as they let out any excess water we have due to our large dam being a mitagation dam. Can not understand why we are not allowed to use it. |
