A-lopa ... so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Deepest sympathy is extended to you and your family. I too had a really tough last few (5) weeks with my Dad ... who is 75yo. Thru this life, he's had a few bouts of renal cholic ...with a significant event just recently. This time he NEARLY lost a kidney thru infection ... which also sent his heart haywire....so its been a roller-coaster ... snow-ball ... you name it... and a hugely worrying time . So if I've been tetchy around the place ... thats why. (As of Thur nite just gone, the calculi removed... and now sitting up large as life... ticker back to normal... and it looks really good from here on. A HUGE relief for the family). Weather wise...we've also had huge amounts of rain (mthly av fell in just 2days). There has been local flash flooding and local road diversions ... (and its raining AGAIN this morning). I took this photo the other day from a high point in our village .... and labelled some features. In it you can see free-water lying on the flats... although the actual levels fluctuate hour to hour. ![]() So that is my suburb...village...and an Arborists paradise..... ![]() and I'm probably gonna get chased off here soon by my 20yo "Lard Lad" son ..but not bofore I read all the newest posts HERE. |

| No lottery tickets for me. Its just a way the government gets you to volunteer your money to them. I think people would have alot more money at retirement if they invested the same money instead.$20 per week x 52 weeks x 40 years = $41,600.....and that is without any interest compounding. |

Dynamic insertion of name field - nice. Great way to get a thread going quick, I'll have to remember that. Well, on with the thread. Been snowing on and off here for the last few weeks, put a big slowdown on work, not because there isn't any, but because trudging up and down snow covered yards hauling brush just sucks.

Hey everyone. Been a while since I checked in. Been hard at work on my midlife crisis. Happy to report it is going well. My condolences to you and your family A Lopa. Been snowing in the mountains for weeks on end. Best snow pack in many years means lots of water for green lawns this summer. Some snow down here on the prarie, but nothing like the high country. I am ready for the warm weather. ![]() Eric, No lottery tickets for me thanks. Winning would spoil me. I like good local beer in the summer and usually settle for a glass or two of good ruby port in the winter. Been working on a new pruning procedure. Not real good with a backhoe yet, but I'm practicing. |

Eric, if you developed this clever auto-posting software yourself, you've got a gold-mine and can sell a copy to every forum owner/administrator on the internet!! If you found it on-the-shelf somewhere, I'm surprised more forums aren't using it... It drew me right in... after double- and triple-checking the email... Glad to hear you're getting wet down in OZ... hope the wine-growing district gets their share, too and can keep those century-old vines healthy... A Lopa, my condolences on losing your Dad... a tough time in anyone's life... My Dad passed on in 1999 at 83 and I still miss being able to talk with him, sometimes... I'm located in northeastern New Mexico about 60 miles east of the high mountains (part of the Rockies). What groundpounder said about things in Colorado pretty much covers it for this part of northern New Mexico, too. 13,000-foot peaks to the west covered with deep snow-pack... a few little snowfalls here, but nothing like the 40" snowfall in 36 hours which another New Mexico village got a week ago... they're still digging out... Arbor-wise, I've continued this winter working on an old orchard... planted in 1912-1914, 120 trees originally, only 35 of them still living after 60 years of total abandonment... mostly pear and apricot trees... coupla old apple and some cherries... I've been clearing out the dead and down trees and just started with serious remedial pruning on the pear and apricot... burning a lot of fossil pearwood in my stoves this winter... hope to get the old orchard renovated before Spring... people from many miles around go there to gather fruit in good fruit years... It's on a ranch (I think you call them 'stations') about 20 miles from here... the Rafter K... I'm a beekeeper by profession. Foolin' with the chainsaws is just hobby and firewood stuff for me. I did work in the real loggin' woods of Oregon for a couple years in 1970-1972. My collection of antique chainsaws stands at 238 right now, and increasing monthly. If anyone is coming this way from Aussieland and can bring some old Mobileco, 47A or 73A AussieMac's or an old Bluestreak with 'em, and the transport not cost a fortune, I'll sure like to talk with them... Beer is my end-of-day cooler... once in a long while get out some JB sippin' whiskey... A new winery in Santa Fe which buys honey from me to make mead has given me several bottles, so I enjoy a few glasses of mead made from my bees' honey once in a while. Don't drink much... but sometimes, a jigger or two of Jim Beam fits well with company... I collect the old decanters (full) and sometimes crack the seals on one of the duplicates from my collection when an old friend or two visits... My kids are all fledged and flown... two in Oregon, one in California and one in Chile, SA... with their own careers and lives... see them a few times a year... talk with each one weekly... but none of them too interested in the honeybees and old chainsaws... Seems like this group of arborists is kind of a far-flung company. I'll try to stop in once in a while and participate some... Sorry to not have replied until now, but I was doing something for the wife.Apart from the rain buggering up our work schedule everything is OK...John was washed out of the tree's a couple of times this week,I dont drink alcohol..now, You are all going to laugh I drink Diet Coke, When I first drank this stuff unless it was ice cold it tasted like shyte, but now I drink it to much..LOL..I have six children and three grandsons which I love dearly..My life revolves around Arboriculture, I have met a lot of good folk doing treework, not to mentioned a whole swag of online friends I've never met apart from their online persona, That's basically me. A-lopa My sincerest condolences, "They live on in Our Hearts and Memories" I lost my folks a couple of years ago,It's a very hard time for all concerned.
