Hey Hartley what's the deal with that kite in your avatar, looks like the type you could surf with. If you are coming to Oz you maybe could hook up with a few tree guys here, 6 months will go fast though and it's a big place.

Started travelling with my Girlfriend at start of January. Left my home country of Scotland and headed to pre planned jobs in France. First contract was repollarding 32 Tilia. Had not been done for 15 yrs but was a joy as the wood cuts like butter, with a Silky, less noise of the chainsaw! They created an avenue leading to a shrine dug into the limestone, pretty cool. We are now much further south, in the mountains near Nimes. Light issue, so crown thinning many Mulberry(Morus). They were originally planted to feed the foliage to Silk worms, a practice which died out here approx 30yrs ago. Heading upto Holland in 3weeks to crown lift some Quercus and work on a tree nursery. Interested to learn more about the nursery side of things! Will be travelling for two years, hoping to broaden knowledge on many more tree species aswell as many other things. End goal is north west Canada but we are planning to be in Australia by the end of this year, so may look you up as we have to work our way. Only thing is in France i do not speak much of their language so its difficult to ask locals about their treecare practises, especially when it comes to their pollarding, which there is tonnes. Especially on Tilia and Platanus. Will let you know when i stumble across more interesting tree stuff. All the best for now. Blair |

Yep beers winner. Although wine is very cheap here in France and locals keeping best stuff for themselves which i had to sample. Hangovers do suck, and make it a non chainsaw day. Struggling finding my way round site. Pretty rubbish with computers at the best of times! Site is an excellent find though, well done.!! |

Hmm, this is a suspiciously cuddly wee thread, but I have a question 'bout the area you come from Ekka, and this will be as good a place as any to post it. I've been training for the upcoming Asia-Pacific climbing comp in Brisbane after being invited to climb as a wildcard entrant, and what I wanted to know is what Brisbane is like, what good quality motels can be recommended, what highlights there are that need to be checked out (non-touristy), etc. etc. I'm pretty green when it comes to travelling, having never ventured outside of NZ before, so I'm really buzzing about this trip!

Weta, How long you staying? Places to check out, well that depends on what you are after, night life and girls or forests and trees, seldom do the two meet.

havent gotten to read all the threads, just dropped in for a minute, looking for a new home owners insurance company for a rental house I just got on forclosure. Its been vacant for a while and insurance companies dont want to cover vacant dwellings. I am still working on fixing it up. Rained a bunch last night and I should be out white water kayaking today, but im looking at tree jobs. Getting busier around here. I really just drink beer. I actually brew beer. I just kegged 5 gallons of stout 4 days ago. No kids or wife yet. |

Found them on last page!!!!! Cool. All is well, working in windswept mountains. Small amount of crown thinning but mainly forming a planting schedule. |

Your site is moving along well Eric. Nice job. Business is going well thank you. Bought a F350 & a Rayco 1625 Super Jr. Next is the Boxer 526DX and a 16' dump trailer! In the summer, I'll be purchasing a Timberwold TW-6 with conveyor.

Hi there. Things are going well for me here in NZ, I have two children, 9 yr old boy and a 12 year old girl. Luv climbing, and pruning. I think this is a great site, really well put together and of coarse the hive of information here from members is fantastic. Simon |

Been heck of a windy here for last three days, constant 100mph. Holding back planting for the now. Most fruit trees in full flower now and getting to grips with the strength of Mulberry wood. Whats the crack with you. Is everywhere getting crappy weather justnow? | |

Yeah makes you wonder. It's been crappy weather here on and off since Christmas. Down south they have a horrific heat wave. I wouldn't complain if the 100mph winds was giving you work but here there has been bugger all storm damage just irritating winds and rain .... which means humidity coz it's summer! well, I have a couple of DVD's to watch now, I watch them on my PC with head phones on so I dont wake the house up. LOL
