| Hello Ekka! I like how everyone posts very positive messages. Thank you and good job on giving us the format! I am definitely a beer guy- I usually drink micro-brew beers that are made in Michigan. Pales ales, some porters, lagers, occasionally a Corona or Pacifico, and even a Fosters on rare occasions. It has been a beautiful winter. We have had many snow storms with 8-10 inches of snow and one windstorm that knocked a few trees down. Right now it is -5 fahrenheit, not going to be climbing many trees for a while. I don't do much tree work in the winter anyways. I do a lot of vacationing in the winter. Sometimes a friend who works at an airline gets me plane tickets at the airlines cost- called Non-revenue. I am selling my Brush Bandit Model 1590 this Wednesday, thinking of buying a new chip truck... Thanks for asking! |

| Well here i am......old chainsaw collector...been busy helping a friend on a job and the chainsaw museum is also something that keeps me out of trouble.... I always have visitors or someone at the shop . Want to see some saws,,,,,,,,,,here is a glitch at my collection. Hope i can get more time to be here....i do have internet connection in the museum but there is always something to keep me away from the comp. Winter in Canada is the busy time to do inside work and fix saws. Alain, |

| Things here in the states are scarey. While trying to be a good citizen and help controling the construction industry. The little ankle biters are here leaving fines for trashpiles put out on the wrong day. I will be back later You all be safe! Bob |

| I'm here finally! It goes good, bad and ugly.... I lost my dad back in Oct and as executor had to deal with the estate issues. No lottery win that's for sure! The work wound down in Toronto so I can down to visit my wife in New Jersey and have some down time. Closing in on having the immigration process closer to completion. Hoping to have the interview soon. And now I have to surrender the computer to my loving wife... who'll kill me if I don't...... |

It really caught my eye so I snapped a pic coz I think it wont be long before some "do gooders" have whinge about it and try to get it banned or something. Cop a load of this, get it, might take a second for the penny to drop. ![]() ![]()

Well ,i was born into it ,my great grandfather was a faller thats a long long time ago guess its in my genes. My Father work as a groundie for a local tree lopper at the time he was 17.Then he started the climbing side of things,in 1970 he started his own business(ace tree removals).I was born 3 years later and on weekends and school holiday i was shown the ropes. When i was 12 i could use a chainsaw, drive bobcats,trucks,cars,ewp..etc can't do that these day if your 12 thats a no no .In 1997 i finished my Arborist course, 1 year after my dad ended this climbing career, you can see he's 40 year old climbing gear on show ya saddle thread (thats old school) it was all hand made by a blacksmith.I have had a go of that gear, hard work.By the end of 1997 the business had grow to over 64 employees, then hard times came along, so we looked for other work which lead to the start of ace energy services (public street lighting). Now my younger brother and dad run this and it has grown to be Victoria wide, but i still enjoy the tree side of things, now i have 15 men under me and we are growing again, hot off the press, we have just purchase a new 60m (200ft) travel tower from overseas and it will be here in late June 2008.So you can see why it takes so long for me to reply busy, busy. My wife thinks am a workaholic but i still have that passion for tree work and love to be apart of this Tree World site, well done Eric ,never thought i would be talking to people from around the world about trees. This is all i have ever done and know, but you still learn new things everyday.

| Well I guess I should actually say something here. 10 pages of posts to a thread with my nickname in the title and I have yet to respond. Seems a bit shy of me. Well, here goes.I sit at a desk most of the day dreaming that I was outside doing tree work. I work for a company where my dad is the GM, and I am the operations Manager. The job is almost certainly mine when he retires, which will be in a few years. We work great together and have a great relationship. I am struggling with the feelings that I don't want to sit in an office for the rest of my career. I am an outdoors person, and little over a year ago I discovered tree work. It incorporates my loves of climbing, outdoors, and power tools (don't give me lectures of safety here, b/c my #1 promise to my wife and son are safety first). If I decide to leave now and do tree work (I'm 31, feel like 21) then that messes up my dad's exit strategy and may force him not to retire when he wants to. So here I sit reading your posts and soaking in as much info as possible about every aspect of tree work. Wishing I was out there with you guys and able to share my experiences as well. I am sharing my weekends with my wife of 9 years and my 21mo old son Blake, and my desire to get up in a tree. I have quoted my first "official" job for our church. It's a 2k job that is going to test everything that I have learned so far and add a few elements as well. Most of what I have been doing so far has been for friends or acquaintances and trying to pay for some of the equipment. I do make pretty good money, and my wife works (which I've always told her that she doesn't have to) so I can buy a lot of the small type of equipment without much trouble. But there is a lot more to life than earning money. I want to do something that will provide for my family and where I am doing something I enjoy. I've told my wife since we got married that if I could figure out how to make a living and climb, I should do it. That's the long a short of it. Things are going well here. We're a little low on the rain gauge, but all in all not to bad. I'm pulling for a presidential candidate that is a long shot, but he has morals that I agree with, and I'm not willing to vote for change for the sake of change, especially when it's not realistic. My son is running around the house putting smiles on his parents faces and learning more than can be imagined by a kid that isn't even 2yrs old. He woke up from his nap on Sat. saying "daddy chainsaw, daddy chainsaw" b/c he could here me outside working on my saws. We bought him the little chainsaw and helmet from Bailey's and he loves it! Ekka, thanks for the thread, but I don't buy lottery tickets, and my favorite drink is Dr. Pepper. Keep up the good work guys, I'll try to be less of a leach!!

| Hey there Ekka, Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been really busy with work and haven't spent any time checking out the Tree World Web site. I really like the Logo with the tree and lightening. I work in the Dallas Texas area and just wrapping up Dormant Oil Coversprays and gearing up for spring ferts and pruning. I've been in the trees since 1977 and wouldn't trade this work for any other as it keeps me physically fit and energetic. Hope all is well with your and yours, Euc_man Quote:
