We'd like IPL downloads from Stihl.

You know where they are?

Yes, however the booklet you get when buying a product is not the IPL, it's just a users manual.

An IPL (Illustrated Parts List) shows a blow up of the parts and their part numbers etc, so you can pull the thing apart and rebuild etc. Briggs has that on their site but Stihl does not.

A while ago a site had a stack of them PDF's, we pilfered a few before it was shut down. Seems like Stihl dont want the public to have their IPL's ... dont know why, dont know if they have changed their policy?

Thumbs up Re: Don Ross how's it going?

Eric, you are unlucky to get some of my very big emails.

Bear with me. It takes time to change entrenched and wrong arboricultural practices just by typing 1500 emails.

I apologise for the number & size of my emails to you but I have found a very simple way of causing 14 lawyers not to have any idea of where I am taking them to and their having no way of defending their legal positions at all. Just imagine if you had seen all 1500 emails and you should think yourself lucky you only get a few emails.

At the moment, it is open slather for the poor old Premier Bligh because I am hoping FOI will reveal some nasty remarks about my undermining of the BCC Councillors in correspondence between Newman & Hinchliffe.

I did not take your advice about keeping the media on side. If the media backs a cover-up mentality then newspaper editors can find out eventually that their unethical practices can be indictable too.

Eric, I spoke to one of the gardeners at New Farm Park yesterday and he said that BCC's Mr Keith Foster now intended to leave temporary fences in place because there is "something political going on somewhere." Keith Foster told the gardeners in New Farm Park that BCC arborists simply don't believe me about lateral load testing being the solution for problem trees.

BCC Arborist Keith Foster is too far down the pecking order for me to stitch him up but I can do that in due course if need be.

My advice to BCC has been and is always to never touch a jacaranda trees' root system and simply do a lateral load test. If the jacaranda fails the test, give it the chop. Millions of trees are affected by termites, ganoderma & phellinius. Remember 90% of problem trees pass the test but only about 50% of the BCC root blasted trees will pass the test if we have a 45 knot south easterly this summer. Sadly the trees will improve their overturning resistance only very slowly with time as the roots once again start to compress the soil around the roots.

Most trees not vandalised will survive for decades because trees usually can get their root layouts right in dense fine sand that is the founding stratum for most jacarandas in the New Farm Park. Few jacarandas will survive in a significant wind storm greater than 45 knots if BCC arborists have air blasted the tree roots twice and water blasted them once.

Happy to hear your kids have reached school age. I have one thespian daughter who is in Laos at the moment & another out west as a student teacher.

Eric, some advice, get a hobby rather than take on BCC to get a branch cut back to your fence line. That was my situation 4.5 years ago.

Thanks Don,

Ng ... one quiet ordinary day I was wondering around New Farm Park observing the trees. A chap came up to me and we had a lengthy chat.

I mentioned I was an arborist going there for years and watched the garbage going on. Slowly the discussion went deeper, I took pictures and informed Don of the forum and the fact we had a thread running about New Farm Park.

Don has kept me in the loop of emails for some time now. There's other things going on besides New Farm Park and it appears no-one is giving him "media time" to tell his story or get to the bottom of things.

That offer has always been open here however Don has pursued his cause in may other ways, shapes and forms. If you have ever tried to get stories published by media and not even got a response back then you'd understand his frustration. Furthermore he was set upon by some solicitors who dropped their cases as they ain't fighting a losing battle in a country where people do have freedom to speak.

Don is a facts man, and argues as such. He challenges many "myths" even from experts like Mattheck. I like that, I don't like smoke and mirrors, I don't give 2 craps about reputations at stake but rather be a better arborist and just because some big name says some BS doesn't make it right.

I would say Don has come to an impasse.

In the New Farm Park case there's been what $100,000 spent and he's saying why not do a pull test, shit they do it everywhere and wow, wont cost that much. But for some unknown reason they don't, which even I just don't understand.

Personally, BCC should do it, and even advertise it or charge to come see it so people like me can go and learn rather than have some internal BS cover up boys club running a sham.

Look at the way Hyde Park was managed during it's crisis compared to the Smart State's ways of New Farm Park.

Don can tell his own story, this is a platform for him to do that, but I tell you that things in this town aren't right, and I'm a man just like him doing my part to change it. Sadly, others just stand and watch and do jack shit, even back stab, and for all you know it's the man next to you or in that org you pay money to ... if I'm wrong then why are things the way they are and the silence so deafening?

Thanks for enlightening me,i'm hoping after i get my isa[if i go take it,i ain't leaving empty handed period]i'm gonna start really challenging the majority of other tree services around here, maybe get a few standards set, stop the f-ing topping and utchering, maybe the widespread removals.I'd like to commend you and Don for taking a stand for whats right, not settling on a nice theory.I'm also very grateful that treeworld exists so everyone is able to get the word out that alotta bs is out there and this is THe place imo to come and sort the shit from the clay, which is the reason i love this site so much.I am proud to be an active member here,i'm also grateful that i know if i were to question someone's work or theory i can do it here and not be silenced or pushed aside,or worry about someone altering my posts because someone's name is at stake.
