Proper pollarding requires CONSTANT attention. One type of pollard design has a single stem. Care must be taken not to cut into the pollard head or rot will develop into the trunk. It is still a very economical treatment because the trees stay healthy, beautiful and safe for many years. More proper pollarding should be done with trees near power lines. When sprouts from pollard heads grow for three or more years and then are removed, the tree roots begin to starve. Some trees tolerate such treatment, but rot and root diseases often develop. This treatment is the same as topping. This partial description quoted from "Tree Pruning", Al Shigo

Where's "here" and I assume you are talking about summer school. I saw the terrible floods in Wisc. on T.V. last night. Thanks for your note.

| All is well here in Tokyo. I'm kept pretty busy with my main job as well as side businesses, so it seems I have less and less time to browse about online, thus is another reason why I've not been around much at all. But, at least those things keeping me busy are things that I enjoy, so I really don't have a lot to complain of! Sure, there's the little things now and again that get one one's nerves, but complaining won't change that... ![]() |

| It's okay. Thanks. I finally took snaps of the tree I am trying to identify (how I found Tree World in the first place). Now I find I must purchase some sort of USB cord/connector. I just have to do more reading before I turn loose on the keyboard figuring out how to upload pictures and post them so someone can identify the blasted tree! Raven |

| The sun is out on this fine Fathers Day. My daughter just went to work and the Mrs and I are home alone.......!!!!!! With that said I'll be out in my workshop alittle later today puttering with some saws. Got a new Husky 339xp last week and want to try some Stihl chain on it. This week got a Domar 5100 saw and can't put it down. It's Oh-So fast for a stock saw! Can't seem to post any pictures, where do I insert my quarter? I see NewGuy18 is in the woodwork here..... God Save the Queen! |

| I was yacking with a fresh out pommy today who was groundying, nice lad. I stirred him up about it always raining over there and he said "bollocks ... it rains in Sydney more than London" And I just checked and he's right, Sydney rainfall is around 1200mm/year and London 750mm/year. Difference is actual rainy days, almost every day in London, a sprinkle here and there where as here, gotta be some bad ass weather or sunny sunny most days (except for smog) He wants to go to Perth next, and drive, from Brisbane. Bugger that, it takes 6 hours in a friggin plane!
