| Hey Ekka, Bet you thought I may never reply. Things are going good, thanks for asking. Busy but good. Tree work is a part-time business for me (Full Time Firefighter in Toronto). I also instruct technical rescue to our National Disaster team (CAN-TF3). All other time is spent with the wife and kids. I love working with trees (removals) and have been doing this sort of work (limited) for the past 25 years. Last year I purchased a chipper (Bandit 65xl - great machine) and business has been steadily booming. I mainly do removals in "cottage country" but have increased my city work lately. Really enjoy the site and your videos. Keep up the great work. Cheers. ![]() BTW: Beer in the day, Whiskey at night. |

| Hey, look at all you guys been hiding away! ![]() Today I hauled my stump grinder to a job, maybe 25km away. Put up the barriers etc and ready to let her rip. Crank, crank and crank but no start. Plugs out do a check, no spark. Pack it all up and come home, strip it down. A little transistor "thingy" which somehow does something with the spark is supposed to be earthed. It is on a flimsy bracket and bolted to the engine copping like mega vebration and the bracket broke. Then it rattled around in there etc. Anyway, now I await parts, coil and transistor thingo. Of course during all this cranking and cranking I also flattened the battery. Anyway, I have a good knowledge of Honda 24hp GX670 engines now, that's a new carby a few weeks ago and now electrics. Just hope parts arrive quick or I'll lose the jobs!!!!! ![]()

| Not bad here The economic downturn has made things a bit quiet but we have blanket tree protection here so there's lots of reporting work to do! My kids live with my ex in Sydney and I only see them in the school holidays - hoping to get them climbing trees soon. I am getting into recreational tree climbing as exercise because I don't hang around in trees all day anymore. I go climbing about once a week with a few mates who work for the council or consult - good exercise. Leaves the council parks boys scratching their heads when they find a pile of leaves lying in a circle in the park after we've been climbing in a big elm and kicking bits of epicormic growth off...... I climb the odd tree (just to look) and every so often I take one down or prune it. Bit dangerous to do that though - you lose a lot of practice when you don't climb every day! My name's Gerard |

There are some extremely dodgy types around who 'flat-top' trees, but in Auckland at least the general public is getting pretty educated about correct tree care. Trouble is, arborist's reports cost so much that dodgy developers will cut a tree down sooner than pay for the report that they need to get council consent! And yeah, I like beer. Only I can't drink it like I used to (hurts too much) I'm quite keen on the idea of recreational tree climbing - think it could still develop as a pastime / sport in places like NZ and Oz Ekka, had your kids climbing trees yet? | |

| My girls are 11 and 14 so I have no excuse anymore..... Will have to get a harness that fits them though. Gives me a reason to bankrupt the biz buying a Petzl Sequoia and I reckon it'll fit them fine |
