What a huge and unusual tree!

I am fine, thank you. Here in Norway we have spring, the snow ist almost gone. Though, in the mountains there is a lot left.
Concerning my woodwork, I am just now cutting logs on my Logosol mill. I own a small wood, an I have cut down some trees during the winter. I have also bought some trees from neighbours, maple, oak, ashwood. Quite big trees, about 90 cm diameter. At least that is quite big around here.
I am a woodworking teacher, so I work with wood almost every day.
Greetings to all from Norway.
LeifR.

If you want to go skiing up there in Sask. then go ahead. We'd go skiing down here too, but it's so hard to get the boat up onto the ski lift...! Yep, the temp here in Nashville is midddle 70's farenheit and it's dry, dry, dry. Summer is on the way in the U.S. south and I am more then ready for it.

Things are great in this part of CALIF. We really dont have any water to spare right now. They are trying to desalinate ocean water to make up some more. We dont have much in the way of weather here either, never to chilly or warm, its nice almost always.
Im glad I ran across you guys. I was searching for info on deep root feeding some birch, maple and ash trees for a client. I havent done it before, but I have most of the equipment, being that I own my pest control company.

A sure sign of Spring is when I get the Antique Yamaha SR500 out of Winter storage and take it for a spin:

I've been getting a lot of clean up work done with my new Stihl, but the only thing I've climbed is my roof to fix some Winter storm damaged shingles.

I had one just like that, I sold it to a collector. Now I know you are suffering from late-middle-age-crazy. All you need to do now is stop bathing and grow a beard!

If the wife finds ALL your new tree climbing stuff, she will get the house, Porche, and everything else. You WILL be left with all the tree gear and the worst bike Yamaha ever made.

The valve train in mine made enough noise to wake the dead. Even after it was rebuilt, I was ashamed to be seen on it.

Oh I don't know, the wife is pretty used to my excesses by now. And she does love to ride:

The Laurel Mountains and Fallingwater - ADVrider

But I will admit that she wants me to get "A Bad Ass Harley" as she puts it, but I am resisting. The SR500 is, as you mentioned, a collectors item and I drove 1200 miles and paid about $1000 more for mine than it cost brand new.

When the stator failed I drove another 1200 miles to get another one as a parts bike, and this Sunday, if the price holds on eBay, I'll be picking up a third one. Could have bought that Harley I guess, but I just like the Thumper aspect of the thing.

Well yes, the thing clatters like ball bearings in your hubcaps (try that on a friends car for fun), but I have an ace mechanic who says I should worry if the noise goes away.

It's all part of the ambiance of a large displacement single cylinder "Thumper".

I foget what all they did to the valve train, but it was all new. It was quieter for about 200 miles and then back to the racket. The funny thing was it never missed a beat.

I agree with Ekka, why would you want to mess with trees. I had to laugh when you showed your 50th birthday present, I am NOT looking forward to my next birthday cause it is the 50th. The best present I can imagine getting, is to be left ALONE! OR 2 twenty-five year olds.

So for your next big-un what are you gettin'? A trip to the Alps might appropriate so you can use the ice axes, that the Missus doesn't know about!

They over tightened the valve clearances to get it to quiet down.

Why mess with trees? Cause I had more excitement than I've had in years in my first (ill advised) experience.

I sold that airplane after three years of having a blast with it. made money on it too.

Once you are 60 every birthday is a big one. As to what I'll get, whatever suits my fancy.
