From all the good things the police do it's bringing idiotic cases like this that give them a fascist view, ok i admit the guy was mental for doing what he did and could have died a couple of times if an on coming car had been on the road when he crossed over, but if we cant do stupid stuff for our thrills then life is going to be very boring. what next? your honour this man was found to be running at a speed considered too fast for public areas and could have scraped his knee and got gravel rash on his elbows if he tripped. Jeez lighten up we are humans not robots and young people have the right to do dumb stuff so the old people can moan at them

Hmm good at what he does.
Different view thought than most. I say lock him up for a year for crossing the white lines.
Was that a drop off on one side of him?. Too bad if a car swerved to avoid killing him,and ended up over the edge killing themselves.
I have a bit of the same view on speeding,its always the innicent people that get killed.
Do they have a special place for these people to do this or not?.Like the drag way for people that want to test there cars out?.If not mabie they should build one.

Matt Ryan, the skateboarder who posted a YouTube video of himself racing down a steep Sunshine Coast road and crossing double white lines, has been fined $300 but will escape conviction and has pledged to be skateboarding again.

The 21-year-old Alexandra Headland waiter faced Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning after police charged him with dangerous operation of a vehicle in September after he identified himself as the skateboarder in the video.

The clip shows Mr Ryan skateboarding on the wrong side of the road near blind corners while he travels at an average speed of 80kmh during his two-minute plunge.

Mr Ryan defended his actions in the Daily saying he had taken appropriate safety measures and was training for a world ‘speedboarding’ championship.

Magistrate Bernadette Callaghan, who initially adjourned the case so prosecutors could prove a skateboard was a vehicle, said all sports should be encouraged and ordered no conviction be recorded against Mr Ryan.

But Ms Callaghan gave Mr Ryan a stern warning.

“Be very, very careful and don’t do what you did again,” she said.

Ms Callaghan also wished him well in his sport.

Outside the court, Mr Ryan said he would be on his skateboard again on Tuesday afternoon and training for the world championships.

He was pleased Ms Callaghan encouraged sports.
