Default Quartz Gold!!!

Well, while on my backpacking trip into the Eastern Sierras, I had decided to climb a certain rocky mountain peak. On the way up I discovered a small area which was layered with huge chunks of quartz!
Upon closer inspection of one piece sticking out of the ground, I saw fine gold filigreed through it in small spidery veins. I set about unearthing the mass, and found it was MUCH LARGER than I had originally though. In the first picture you can see what was visible above ground, and how much was hiding underground.
There were also various other small to medium sized hunks of quartz which I'd gathered an placed atop a large flat-ish boulder, as visible in the second picture.

The chunk weighed well over 200lb and I was several miles into the wilderness, having gone off-trail to get to my campsite location using map/compass and cairn trails. I was able to break about a 30lb chunk off of the mass that I dug up, and packed that chunk back home with me.

Upon close inspection, well, the pictures speak pretty nicely for themselves!!

To be sure! I still have to go back and get the rest from that specimen. Tis well hidden at this point

Only problem now is backpacking a couple hundred pounds of rock out through several miles of high country forest, with a few thousand feet of elev. change in between. (nowhere near a major trail; map and compass navigation.)

omg! that looks so nice! do you know how much it's worth?

I love gold...and diamonds. Gold and diamonds together is especially nice!

What are you going to do with it? Can you sell it? or do you have to seperate it or something.
Are you rich now?

What a lovely find!!!
ps does anyone else know about it?

JayD, pyrites and other non-gold flashy substances lose their sparkly in the shade. Gold is still sparkly in the shade.
Also, weighing in a high specific gravity would confirm it moreso, but difficult with these spidery veins.

I need to crush it down and seperate, or possibly amalgamate. I could send in a 2lb sample to have it assayed also.
