Rain has cleared up a little, so I'm off to install some crown bracing. I pack light food for lunch ( cheese, bread, apple, water ) have my main meal in the evening. But burning off copious amounts of energy during a working day; I usually need a few power snacks ( 10am, 3pm, 5pm ) and loads of water in between. I go for healthy; so a flapjack, banana , mango or oatmeal pancake etc. I'm curious about other healthy options, what's yours ? |

a monster and half a pack of smokes, breakfast of champions! ![]() but really.... a monster, honey bun, apple (granny smith), cliff bar (choclate chip crunch) and a cigarette for breakfast. snack on fruits and gatorade (50/50 mix with water) all day long. for lunch i nap for half an hour and eat a sammich and some chips and another cliff bar. dinner is either chinese, pizza or, if i feel like i deserve it a nice bit of steak from the spanish market down the street. there is always some form of pasta involved (GO CARBS!) dinner is my biggest meal since i have the time and have no worries of gaining weight. i've been trying but i top out at 170lbs no matter what i do and my dad is fourty three at 185 and grandfather is 69 (as of today ![]() ![]() ![]() ) at 200 so i don't think i gotta worry about getting fat.were all three 6ft to 6'2" btw Last edited by second-gen_monkey; 5th October 2010 at 09:18 AM. I take a can of Baked beans to work for lunch. Heinz are the best if you can get them. Eat them cold out of the tin. No worries with storage during hot weather either. In the winter they can be warmed up in the tin on one of those little camping stoves

It's interesting seeing the differences between cold and warm climate eating habits. The first post had a reasonably cold climate eating habit with a large meal in the evening. Warmer climate posts tended to have breakfast as more important.

breakfast is pretty important in this heat. though mine is pretty light and mostly sugar and water it really helps to be almost over hyrdated when it's 89F at seven a.m. and the immediately available enregy from the sugars and carbs really helps wake you up and keep you going till lunch. i also used to get some nasty cramps when i first started in the industry untill i was told to mix my gatorade and water throughout the day rather than drink them seperately. oddly enough it was a customer who told me, a high-school gym teacher. as a side note, an apple will make you more awake and ALERT than a caffinated beverage in the morning. i just really like monster drinks. I have oatmeal with added grains (flax, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, millet, quinoa, chia plus an inch of diced ginger all topped with 2-3 tbsp of semisweet choc chips) and some supplements -- every morning warm weather or cold (around 0800); possibly an apple during the day - two if I'm lucky, and a modest dinner in the evening (around 2200-2300) Drink water during the day - cold days water and some hot jasmine tea. I'm 6 ft 2 and 270 lbs.

If you find the clients irritating! try looking at it like this! They are the boss, they are the reason you are working there, a business can run without the secretary, the managers, the trucks, the chippers, the individual workers, the owner, but it cannot exist without the customers. it was explained to me as a young business owner by a coach years ago and it changed my way of looking at the customer, even the awkward ones.........

hahahaha true enough Galbee, however sometimes it is like banging your head against a brick wall.. I don't understand why they hire you if they are not going to take your advice. Yes, 'awkward' is a good way of looking at it. I don't think I ever think of the customers as my boss to be honest. I work with them, not for them. |

I agree with Galbee. The customer is the boss - you can try an work with them, and sometimes you work for them, but when the job is done, and hopefully they'll recommend you to someone else, you say goodbye. Some you can't say goodbye to fast enough, some you want to stay longer (haven't known many of those), most you're both satisfied. But the customer pays the bill (assuming they do) -- so they are the boss. Just short term ones.
