Default The Power of Links - Linking

Yep, website links.

Quality over quantity so carrying a link in your signature on a forum where you have 2000 posts is not really doing you much good, in fact could be seen as spam.

What is important is the links text wording. For example, I'm talking about say throw bags. And I own a supply store that sells many items so I link with some typical generic stuff like contact us at http://www.treepro.co.nz/accessories.asp

So great, you got a link. But missed out on some real important help.

You see, it's the wording of the link that carries a lot of weight, and if that wording is in line with your meta tag keywords even better (but is a bonus).

Now the bots take a few words here and there as keywords and try to fit your link in and give it some sort value to a search.

This is much better. Throw bags may be purchased from our arborist supply store in Australia or New Zealand.

See how this works? The links wording is important. If you as website owners and forum members use this concept for gaining inbound links with appropriate content and keywords good for you, I dont mind, as long as the post is on topic and makes sense.

In return, linking to Tree World, it would be great if you could use some of these key words on your website to steer people here.

tree information
tree care

arborists forum

Linking is one of the most difficult and powerful strategies of web success. You may even see inferior sites to yours come in front on a search, I assure you the links is what's doing it. See, search engines figure, gee whiz, 2000 sites point to this one so it must be good where as only 2 point to yours. Now if those pointing sites are keyworded in alignment to your site you have some powerful stuff.

Link farms are directories and places that frankly give you dime a dozen links. Every man and his dog is in there. When you search for something often these farms pop up with directories of rubbish you couldn't bother sifting through. Search engines know this and are placing less emphasis on link farms ... by volume. I know of places where you can buy 500 inbound permanent links for like a one off $50 fee ... could sound like good value but I assure you the search engines are onto this caper.

So, now you are up to speed with linking, text of the link is crucial, places you link to and from critical and the topic at hand important. Have fun in cyberspace.
