Arrow (ORGANS) donate or not?

no way in heck would i donate my organs so some doc's can make a fortune from my donations however i would sell them, or defiantly give them away to my closest family so they could get something good from my death. unfortunately in our great nation USA, if your not rich and powerful you will probably die waiting for a donor.

Call me paranoid or even stupid, but I'm not a donor because I can't shake the feeling of the paramedics not doing everything they can to save my life... Just to harvest the parts...

YES I KNOW THAT IS COMPLETELY STUPID AND NOT TRUE, but it's just a thought and feeling I can't shake and couldn't live with..

I would never sign any forms consenting donation, but if I did cark it and my parents were still around, they could give consent for it - as long as I'm well and truly dead :P

Yer John Dee I'm not one either, felt the same way for a while but I think I might change.

But if it came to being really bad where someone had to wipe my arse, I hope someone would pull the plug.I couldn't stand that sort of thing.

Angry Re: (ORGANS) donate or not?

our hospitals are privately owned, no way in hell are they concerned about the welfare of the public. MONEY,MONEY,MONEY!!! take a poor healthy homeless person; which USA has many, that person has severe head trauma but can be saved with $300,000.00 in advanced medical technology and a long recovery. who is going to pay fer that? Hmmm, lets just harvest his organs, skin, bone tissue, eyes, liver, lungs, heart, kidneys, and make a cool mil or more, we can invest half and burn the rest in Vegas baby!!! a very close friend of mine was killed in in a routine surgery and they accidental punctured his heart, he was an organ donor; that harvested everything!!! it was so bad the funeral/viewing was a closed casket he was only 31 years old!!! only doctors make you sign off saying if they F up they are not responsible. what kind of BS is that?!?! them arrogant sob's need to be held accountable for there own actions. because the hospitals make you sign them malpractice forms my close friend left behind his 8yo son, and is now an or-fin with nothing!!! no case, no money, no nothing!!! the slime ball surgeon has a mansion and drives his $150,000.00 car around with out a care in the world. if he needed a transplant, you bet your ass he would buy one and have a match within a few days!! money talks and bull shit walks, what a damn shame!!!

Donor here too, 'nuther motorcycle rider too.

I can just see it. I die in some great way that preserves most of my organs. Some poor guy needs a liver transplant, has like 3 weeks left to live. It's a match!
They get all excited and give him my liver, do the surgery. He gets out of the operation and they decide he now only has 5 more weeks to live.

I ticked organ donor on my drivers licence ... but they say that's not good enough or something here.

Anyway, imagine you are in a coma, usually they'll go 30 days but you got some rare blood group and good organs ....

Not preaching at anyone...you are adults (I think) you make your own decisions, however a man I call my friend and that many of you in Oz know well is alive today largely because of a heart transplant, so I am a donor, have no fears about being sliced up whilst still alive, have confidence that in the event of my death my wife and kids know my wishes and my organs (for what they are worth...my liver like Therrin's might be passed its use by) will not be chucked along with my body.

I use to carry a Organ donor card in the UK and use to give blood regular too.
I forgot all about it since we moved over here.

Do they make you hang about for a while after giving blood over there?

In the Uk they made sure you sat down and had a drink and a biscuit or two before you were allowed to drive off, in case you went a bit giddy!

They strongly advise you to,but they can't make you do it.I take a couple minutes because i had an incident after giving blood where i immediatly went home, and climbed a small tree out front to hang some christmas light,my bandage fell off and I sprung a leak.

You sprung a leak Bill? Never heard of that happening before

Stubby?? Is that a bottle or something?
Sounds like a fair swap

I was never offered beer, 'twas a nice cup a tea or juice.

At the college they'd give us a T-shirt, a freshly grilled hotdog, bag of chips, and a soda =)

(I think I fudged my birthdate back then cuz I was only 15, man, I wanted that free hotdog!)

Here you get $75 bucks for donating platelets.

NG, everyone gets the sweater and the blanket when you dontate platelets, the part that you forgot to mention is that you have to give them back!

It's cuz they filter your blood out and pump it back into you, so it makes you all cold.
