Default New Australian State

It seems the British created a new state for Australia without telling us. Take a look at the map in this story about the floods on the Daily Mail UK site.

Actually they did that during WW2 along with Prime Minister Menzies. Not really a well known fact and I can't find an exact link, but after the Japanese bombed Townsville they were going to evacute Nth Qld down to there and let Japan in.

Things changed and it didn't happen. Lot's of WW2 things in Australia were kept quiet. Air Raids on Australian Mainland - Second World War [Australian War Memorial]

I ALMOST moved to Australia in '92. I chickened out and moved to Idaho instead.

Would have been a totally different history book.

Yeah because we don't want to lose the public holiday for the Queens Birthday.

We only have had one Prime Minister sacked (Whitlam) by the Governor General back in 1975, I don't know the full story as I was 13 at the time.

Not sure if it would happen again.

It's harder for Brits to migrate here than Kiwi's.
