To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine ... and those who don't.

To paraphrase Ben Franklin, "In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is
freedom, in water there is bacteria."

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated
that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we
would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli)-
bacteria found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila,
rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a
purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health.

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit.

I just advised my GF to drink at least ten litres of ice cold water a day to lose some weight... that makes sense though, but I didn't know that she'll absorbe some ten kilos of crap along with it...

I'm not telling her though...

The worst is drinking out of a garden hose. If you are at a customers place and need a drink it's so tempting to grab the hose. Better you unscrew or click the hose off and have a drink.

Garden hoses laying around unused for periods of time means they're a haven for bacteria especially if a little warm.

In Adelaide back around the 90's there was a serious outbreak of meningitis ... many died. They tried to trace where and why and eventually found 2 sources.

Air conditioner cooling towers, mainly water coolers.

And the biggest culprit, black irrigation pipe.

The outbreak occurred Spring/summer when people switched on their "incubator" hose systems freely spraying the bacteria into the environment, themselves etc.

We boil our tap water, charcoal filter, then refrigerate.

But sometimes run out or forget so just be careful of hoses.

Boxer, D-Calif., said she was "alarmed at the news" that pharmaceuticals are turning up in the nation's drinking water, while Lautenberg, a New Jersey Democrat who said he was "deeply concerned" by the AP findings, both represent states where pharmaceuticals had been detected in drinking water supplies, but not disclosed to the public.

"I call on the EPA to take whatever steps are necessary to keep our communities safe," said Boxer in a statement.

Added Lautenberg, whose subcommittee has jurisdiction over drinking water issues: "Our families deserve water that is clean and safe. Our hearing will examine these problems and help ensure the EPA and Congress take the steps necessary to protect our residents and clean up our water supply."

EPA spokesman Timothy Lyons said the agency is "committed to keeping the nation's water supply clean, safe and the best in the world. We encourage all Americans to be responsible when disposing of prescription drugs."

The Lautenberg-Boxer announcement came just 24 hours after the AP's release of the first installment of its three-part series, titled PharmaWater.

The five-month-long inquiry by the AP National Investigative Team found that while water is screened for drugs by some suppliers, they usually don't tell their customers that they have found medication in it, including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones.

The series shows how drugs _ mostly the residue of medications taken by people, excreted and flushed down the toilet _ have gotten into the water supplies of at least 24 major metropolitan areas, from Southern California to northern New Jersey. The stories also detail the growing concerns among scientists that this pollution has adversely affected wildlife, and may threaten human health.

In a letter to EPA administrator Stephen Johnson, Schwartz said, "Like many Pennsylvanians, I was especially taken aback by the finding of 56 different pharmaceuticals discovered in the drinking water for the City of Philadelphia.. . . The Associated Press report raises serious questions about the safety and security of America's water system."

I one time was drinking out of the same hose all day .When homeowner came home asked if we would like some water I said no thanks .She ok just dont drink out of that hose that water is bad .
