Default an idea for a book but

how much does to cost to publish a book?
I have this idea of photographing the flowers of our native trees, like oak, beech etc to show that even tho they're overlooked they do produce flowers which are quite something to look at up close.
Anyone done a book of any kind?

I sold an article on flying squals to a magazine, but they never published it. In my case i needed to find a list of magazines that relied on freelance writers, I would think the same would be in your case. Someone will need to publish you.

My wife is an aspiring fiction writer, so I can tell you that it's a huge challenge to get a book published. In your case, non-fiction is said to be easier. Self publishing is not really expensive, and there are a number of companies online who do it. The only problem with self publishing is that no one will ever find your book unless you spend a huge amount of time promoting it.

I would start by finding publishers who have published similar books and then submitting to them. Getting a publishing agent can be a big help, but that has challenges too.

This is kind of an example of what I'm aiming for, tho ignore the shot as the light was low and theres movement blur due to the wind but hopefully it gives an idea.

Purple leaved Norway Maple.

This is a common species in parks and gardens, and it produces its tiny yellow flowers in late April/early May, followed by the helicopter seeds (samaras) which are at first a deep red colour, the same as the emerging leaves, but later turn a dull brown. It is a colour morph of the Norway Maple, Acer platanoides, an attractive medium sized tree native to eastern and central Europe and southwest Asia, from France east to Russia, north to southern Scandinavia and southeast to northern Iran.
